i'm not sure if this would be a good idea or if it's even doable.

would it be possible to add the ability for a script when calling for an image file, be able to get it from a zip file and if it is, would it be possible for the entire zip file to be cached in memory?

my idea:

self.timeimage[x] = xbmcgui.controlimage(self.offscreenx + self.timex[x], self.timey, self.timew, self.timeh, extraspath +'images.zip\\' + 'red_' + str(y) + '.png')

one possible way to do this sort of thing is allowing python access to xbmc's filesystem. that way you get zip, smb, etc. etc. support all at once.

not sure how easy it'd be. perhaps darkie can comment?
