I recently aquired a pre-chipped Xbox, unfortunately don't know what chip, nor do I know the bios. It is running Xecuter2 with XBMC. When I got it it was working fine, I was able to play games, view movies (both HDD and DVD) as well as Images. Although, after editing the XboxMediaCentre.xml file and uploading via FTP upon reboot the Xbox has not got past the logo, the FTP service is not running and I have no idea how to roll-back the XboxMediaCentre.xml file back to its original version kept on my PC.
I have tried to run a boot disk for EvolutionX just to get the FTP service back up again, however I have not been successful.
In case it was not clear before, I am a newbie... :)
Any help would be appreciated.

you only have two options:
1) create a boot dvd to get you ftp.
2) use the hotswap method so you can access the hard drive from your computer.
#1 should be the easier option. use a dvd if you can, not a cd, and dummy the disc with a large file.

Thanks for the tip, can you point me in the direction of getting some help to create a boot dvd? I have created both CD and DVD boot disks for EvoX to no avail. Does a boot disk profile exist for XBMC?

Hi AlexC,
Probably not a bad idea to have a look inside the box to see what chip is in there for your records.
If it's an Xecuter chip, you may be able to hold to White button down on the controller when booting your xbox to get into the BIOS.

true... some bios's have built in recovery methods with either embedded ftp or smb. (use ftp. the smb doesnt seem to work well.)
