i was installing xbmc-2004-05-09 and deleted the files from the previous version, when the xbox got shutdown by accident.
i'm using xbmc as my dash and already replaced the old xbe by the new one, before the xbox was shutdown. now when powering up the xbox i get the error screen from xbmc as was noted in the bugs.txt. but in now way i can get ftp access to my xbox. xbmc keeps retrying to "init network".
my xbox is connected to my pc via it's own nic with a static ip.
i've allready tried to use a evox bootdisk to gain access to my xbox, but than won't boot even original disk won't boot. i tried a second xbox drive to see if that might help, but no luck.
how can i get acccess to my xbox?? i would really appriciate any help, since i use my xbox with xbmc on a daily basis.
if it is booting and keeps trying to init the network maybe it is because you are not running a dhcp server?
try downloading a shareware dhcp server, configure it and see if xbmc will grab an address from it. then you should be able to ftp into your xbox.
first hit from google was this one:
http://home.t-online.de/home/hanewin/dhcp-e.htm
good luck
i have a disk xbox evox hdd install boot.iso i use when i can't boot any more. it give's you ftp access enough to fix the problem. if needed pm
i agree with djlink xbmc didn't screw anything. problem is between gamepad en xbox!!!
first off, xbmc screwed my xbox.[quote] *that comment will piss a lot of people off. *
xbmc did not screw your box! *you did! and if not sometimes shit happens with your mod.
second,
appologize to for saying this unfounded bs [quote]xbmc screwed my xbox.[quote]
third, you need to provide more information.
modchip? tsop? bios? do original games still work?(edit you just answered that.) does the ms dash pull up. *does your evox boot disk work on your other xbox?
answer those questions and maybee some one will help you!
for future reference, xbmc should try dhcp then 192.168.0.42/255.255.255.0 as it's ips when in recovery mode. you'll need to configure your network appropriately to gain access.
unless you have modded your bios with xbtool it will always try to boot from d:\deafult.xbeactualy there been a few evox bioses that had bugs in them that didn't boot to dvd-rom first, solution to that is use xecuter bios,
if an original retail xbox game does not boot then it's very likely that this is your problem so flash latest xecuter 2 bios.
i had a friends xbox over here a few days ago and i had to try +50 times to make it read the bootcd. other times it works directlyyes and try burning evox (boot cd/dvd) to different types of media (cd-rw/cd-r) and brands, plus include 200mb+ dummy files
offcourse i will apologize if neccesary. it was more ment as a pun than as the actual reason for my xbox not functioning. also like i said i love xbmc!! i use it everyday, so:
sorry, i apologize for my choice of topic title and to anyone i might have upset with this remark.
as said xbmc boots into an error so, bios, hdd should be fine.
the simplest solution would be if someone could tell me how i should setup my network so i can correct the problem.
it seems like xbmc loading before the game has time to start up.
i'm using xbmc as my dash and since xbmc is available to the bios it boots xbmc instead of evox which it should do when the xbe for xbmc was not available.
well there seems to be something funky with my xbox motherboard. for some reason all of a sudden the evox cd booted en i was able to correct the install of xbmc.
maybe there's a contact lose on the connecting between the mb and the yellow cable of the dvd-rom drive. i need to look into that. luckily i don't use my dvd-rom drive of the xbox that often.
thanks for all the assistance. and again sorry for my choice of topic title.
is this info shown on screen during recovery mode? it'd be good if it displayed something so that users had some hint as to what to attempt.
eg trying dhcp... dhcp failed.
network settings are set to: etc.
well i'm not a expert buth if it's not booting from a cd-rom i think your bios is screwed!!?? if this could be done by xbmc i doubt it. you still get a xbmc error screen what is good sign, it's doing a inet to look for a dhcp server! i think the .xml is corrupted or gone.
unless you have modded your bios with xbtool it will always try to boot from d:\deafult.xbe
i had a friends xbox over here a few days ago and i had to try +50 times to make it read the bootcd. other times it works directly on it, but try try try try try try try....
like i said i allready tried that. it won't even boot an original game anymore (maybe something wrong with the dvd interface??)
is it possible to connect two hdd's to the xbox?? i got an old one lying around with evox on. it. i could use that to fix the problem, but will it boot??
ok, appology accepted!
please anwser the following questions
what kind of mod are u using?
chip, if so what chip? tsop? what bios? can you change bios on chip or if tsop is it split into multi-bios like v1.0 and v1.1 mb?
i need to know if you can flash your chip easily or switch to different bios?
also if you have a chip can you disable it to go the ms dash?
you mentioned you had second xbox drive? do you have a second xbox is it modded. is your second harddrive formated with a different dash on it etc?
also i've never had a bios load something from the hd before a disk, are u putting the evox disk in then turning the xbox off, wait 10 seconds then turning back on?
if you can answer those questions we can begin to help?
