hi, i recently updated from a really old 7-03 build to the newest cvs (10-06) and i had a question about the background pictures.
Appletell preview - Boxee (Alpha) - Appletell::
It can play most of your movies, music, and pictures, as long as they aren’t shackled . XBMC is not called Boxee now like you stated in your article.

on the older cvs, i took the background picture for the main menu, the my music menu, and for the my videos menu and edited them. nothing too fancy, for ex: took a pic of carl from athf and put him in the bottom left of my main menu background (gets a few laughs each day)

with the newer cvs i can't find where the background.png files are located. i've looked all over the cvs, either it's obvious or some new way of drawing the background has been implemented, lol

The original Xbox does not support multitasking, so XBMC can't be running in the background with Avalaunch or Surreal64 in the foreground.

i tried placing a file called background.png in the media directory and nothing happened. is there a certain file naming system i have to go by or anything?
and thx for pointing me to project mayhem's site, i didn't even know that they had skins available for d/l there
they are all compressed into one xpr file. just put your own files in the media directory and they will be used. the skins look for png files first then if they are not there it uses the compressed ones in the xpr file.
i think this feature is still not quite working for builds you download from the usual places, but the skin from project mayhem official site seems to work.
