hi... *i was wondering how easy it might be to add support for the lola remote that's being given away here (http://www.fatwallet.com/redirect/bounce.php?http://www.x10.com/techliving1/) for the cost of shipping? *this would be add-on for xbmc, as many of the buttons could be directly mapped to key menus like genre, artist, etc...
the remote is wirelessly connected, not via ir, and penetrates well through cabinets, which makes it great for an xbmc system acting as a jukebox in an entertainment center. *the usb connected reciever uses the same driver as for the ati remote wonder, and folks have gotten it to work well using lircd under myth. *it can be attached to the xbox via a usb to game port controller cable.
i'm not sure how hard it would be to add such a remote, but x10 is literally giving a ton of them away for the $5.90 shipping cost, and it seems like a much better fit for xbmc than the msft dvd remote. *
thanks,
mike
ps here is the link (http://mythtv.org/pipermail/mythtv-users/2004-april/039826.html) to the mythtv list item that talks about the linux driver for the usb reciever. source should be accessible there. for windows systems, folks just the ati remote wonder usb reciever drivers. i like to see support for a x10 usb dongle too but i imagine that it would be a huge task writing/coding an xbox library for the driver? ???
(ps! europeans should know that x10 also have an x10 online shop for the uk (http://www.x10.co.uk) availble, but don't know if they sell lola remote with usb?)
