Why is this okay with Americans?
Published by: smith 2009-01-08
  • Obama has stated in his ads that he doesn't care about corporations, or C.E.O.'s, or the rich. He only cares about the middle class. I want to know why this seems okay to Americans. First of all, shouldn't your president care about absolutely every single American, yet he states in his ads a huge group that he doesn't care about?!

Secondly, he is for the democratic party, which used to focus on the lower class citizens and upping welfare, why are they supporting him, when he's stated all he cares about are the middle class people, thus telling the lower class that he doesn't give a hoot about them.?

Again, why do Americans think this is a good candidate for president concerning this matter?

  • All lip service. He'll be bumping his burry little head under the desk top of CEO's just like the rest of them.

It is all bullsh*t. They're all full of sh*t.

  • I want to know how he plans on paying for all these programs he wants to start? He wants to start new programs for health benefits etc etc, and lower taxes, but how does he expect to pay for the programs. Our government doesn't have any money. They are in a deficit. He says Bush ran us farther into deficit by 10 billion dollars, what does he expect he is going to do? Where is he going to get the money he wants???? Giving bigger tax rebates to people who don't even pay taxes to start with???? Not raising taxes on incomes under $250,000????? Show me the money!! Where will he get it????? I am not for either candidate, but you should be asking yourself these questions. If he can't tax for the money, the government doesn't have the money, he wants to give money for new and old programs, where is the money coming from??? If he has more money made and sent out on the streets, that just makes our dollar worth less. Start asking yourselves some tough questions, quit following the rhetoric. But what alot of people are also forgetting is that the president doesn't have the power to do everything that they say they will do. If he wants to change taxes or give money to programs, it has to be approved of and budgetted by the congress and senate. Did you not learn anything when Bush proposed the tax rebates and it had to go through the senate approval and budget. When he proposed the bailout, it again had to go through the senate. The president doesn't have as much power as a lot of you think he does. They can promise all they want, but when it comes down to it, they are not in power to deliver it. OH yah!! When Bush proposed to go to war, it had to be approved of by the senate. So you see, Bush didn't send us to war. The senate did.

  • I personally don't consider corporations to be living breathing Americans.

The majority of voting Americans would at this point disagree with you that there is something about the Democratic party that should automatically make a member ineligible to be President, especially given the alternative.

  • Your assuming that all Americans well vote for Mr Obama wait a few weeks and see if this post is relevant
What you don't understand is 40% of Americans pay NO ZERO income tax but they do get money FROM the gov at the end of the year He wants to increase that so they can buy a 2nd plasma TV The older people like to watch away from the smell of the crack

  • Look back through history and realize that this country can only handle 4 years of a Republican president.

Obama is just the lesser of 2 evils. No matter who runs for any office you and I will find something that we disagree with them about.

When it comes down to it republican and democrat are just titles and are somewhat meaningless. The underlying political/government structure has been tampered with so as to be unworkable. Politics is not a Job, it's an Investment.

Even if we get the best president we could ever have it would be like putting a bandaid on a compound fracture (a break in the bone and a break in the skin). All we would be doing is cosmetically covering up the surface while the main problem is the broken bone.

Put God, Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance back in the School System and get children off on the right foot. Demand and Require periodic Accountability of everyone from "little Johnny down the street" to the President of the US. Uhm, Religion (no more than knowing the difference between Right and Wrong)????

There is NO PRESIDENT, Democrat or Republican/Male or Female that can fix the mess we are in in 4 years. We are in a Depression and all WE THE PEOPLE do is ***** about it and say "Maybe next time" or "somebody has to do something about this". IT'S JUST AS MUCH OUR FAULT BECAUSE WE ARE LETTING THEM GET AWAY WITH IT VIA OUR APATHY, AND IT HAPPENS AT THE LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL LEVELS.

LOL, SOME POLITICIANS ARE JUST LIKE 2-YEAR OLDS. YOU CAN'T LET THEM OUT OF YOUR SIGHT FOR 2 MINUTES (SECONDS) CUZ YOU KNOW THEY WILL GET IN TROUBLE IF SOMEONE ISN'T CONSTANTLY WATCHING THEM.

WE THE PEOPLE HAVE JUST AS MUCH RESPONSIBILITY FOR HOW THIS COUNTRY TURNS OUT AS THE POLITICIANS DO!!

  • hahahaha..

Thats all you u came up with?

First of all, shouldn't your president care about absolutely every single American, yet he states in his ads a huge group that he doesn't care about?!

He is a good candidate because he not trying to be president to become rich or sustain his wealth. I admire that he is not moved by large amouts of money.

I dont want a money hungry president.

In the bush economy, the middle class became non existent and more people are being considered the lower class. We are a middle class working country. In the process of becoming wealthy for the rich, they set margins with no compassion.

What kind of heart do you have to make the average american pay more than a 300% increase in a basic needs (GAS it was 99$ a gallon 8 years ago) while everyone is struggling, you make the biggest profits in one quarter ever. Thats evil

  • i couldn't agree with you more.

  • It's not okay wth THIS American.

Please cite a source to back up all your claims about obama or you will be dismissed as just another republican party hack.

I'll give you ten minutes...from NOW!

  • The largest part of the demographic is middle class so he tries to appeal to them.He also appeals to the lower class when he promises hand outs and 'redistribution of assests'.He's a typical liberal who will ruin the country with his liberal agenda which borders on socialism.

  • You're clutching at straws, let it go

  • I dont think it's a good thing and I think it's a completely inappropriate opinion for a politician to have.

Making over $100k a year does not make you less American. If anything, it makes you more American - because hey, you followed the American Dream and succeeded.

The problem these days in the USA is that there's precious little information out there. Americans live in a society dominated by disinformation and a media that does nothing but feed the world conjecture and opinion.

  • Wish I could answer that my friend. most of the people voting for Obama quickly dismiss any idea of voting for McCain based on BS, propaganda, vague descriptions and one or two special items of their own...but nothing concrete as compared to Obama who is probably the most inexperienced little idiot to run for President....except for maybe Jimmy Carter.
The history is there, the truth is out there, yet they will remember some lie from the Obama campaign in a sound bite....like how he's been lying that McCain will take away the people's social security.
That's been a card democrats have played or 30 years now and its getting tired.
I'm not saying McCain is the saviour, I"m saying Obama is a socialist and bad for the country. how selfish, stupid, uneducated or just plain brainwashed into the leftist propaganda can you be not to see it is beyond me. People that easily bought off and can't think for themselves shouldn't be allowed to vote. They are sheep

  • I agree. Obama is targeting the the middle class b/c he knows that is where the most votes will come from. McCain supports businesses inwhich he wants to lower the taxes to create more jobs here in the u.s. Obama wants to raise taxes and have more government run programs like health insurance. the last thing I want to see is government in charge of my healthcare...yikes!

  • Your argument is weak. first you say he doesn't care about corporations. I have never heard him say that, so I assume you made it up.

The democratic party is the focus of the Middle class, a strong middle class, with a lot of disposable income to buy stuff, which then means that others can manufacture stuff.

  • Its called class warfare. He pits rich against poor, banking that the ignorant poor will think he's their hero and vote for him. But in the end he'll screw them too because the goal is not to help poor people make more money, the goal is to make everyone equally poor.

  • Obama will say anything in order to get elected, and his focus groups have told him that appealing to the middle class is a winner..but you are right in general...Obama NEEDS division...he and his liberal followers are pros at class warfare and pitting one group against the other and promoting envy and jealousy in order to gain power...its despicable and many Americans are too ignorant or blind to see this...its a sad situation.

  • He SHOULD care about CEOs & Corporations.

After all - those CEOs & Corporations provide an awlful lot of jobs to middle class Americans....................

And - an awlful lot of middle class Americans have stock in those same corporations through retirement accounts.

It seems to me that it would be a bad idea to run down the stock prices even further.

  • dont worry he cares about corporations, insurance companies give him money to keep going so i would think he did care about them.

middle class people need a break they are the ones who made this country into what it is. they make the rich richer that is what capitalism is all about. In that the hard work of the middle class brought in MONEY so if we dont have that then puufff just rich people will only exist and poor people.

  • The group isn't huge - it's mostly just politicians and corporation heads.
If the middle class's lifestyle gets better, it could lead to the lower classes' lifestyles getting better.

  • Have you been living under a rock? CEO's, corporate America, and our government have been largely responsible for the current economic mess. Middle class people, who do most of the working, paying of taxes, living, and dying around here, have been left out in the cold.

  • he is not
The benighted dont understand how jobs are created by rich people who like me want the challenge of growing and making more money. They have decided that the teet of the goverment taste good an they dont want to work. so communism sounds good to them, they should be allowed to relocate to china.

  • It is okay with me, as long as he does not drive the rich into being poor.. Which his tax plans are not going to do.. He is just giving the middle class a break, so that we are not struggling from paycheck to paycheck.

It is hard for the rich to be rich, when no one is able to afford their services.

  • Why is that Americans put up with the lesser of 2 evils every single f*cken year?

I mean give me a f*cken break we got a f*cken junior liberal senator VS a war hungry hothead neocon what a f*cken joke.

And neither one of them wants to change the status quo its politics as usual and they f*cken get away with brainwashing the american people into thinking that a real positive change is on the day.

You want reality? Were gonna suffer it's gonna be a god-damn hard 10 years ahead of us and we won't see any relief for a while, the 700 billion dollar bailout is delaying the recession and someday were going to be faced with an even bigger crisis in this country. The Dollar is going to be extinct one day, we cannot afford to police the world and one day we will be forced to stop our dictatorship ways.

No it's not wrong that I'm critisizing my own country, when freedom is in danger it is up to the citizens to fight and preserve the liberty we so dearly cherish, we need more patriots like ROn Paul and Mike Gravel who care about this country and want to take us in the right direction. It's the f*cking zionists and big CEOs that control this country and control the elections even single effin year.

Americans are waking up to the fact that neither the republicans nor democrats hold any solutions to the problems we face today, America needs a 3rd party candidate to one day win an election or I'm afraid that one day America is gonna be up for sale... First bidders anyone? Oh and trust me its going to happen far sooner then you think.

That's reality and it is bad. We can't put up with this status quo anymore, we need to do something big before its to late.

  • You forget that corporations are multi-national. Their loyalty does not apply to the U.S. Their loyalty is to exploitation of natural and human resources for profit. Therefore, the U.S. (we are a democracy, not 'a capitalism') must command its rightful position in the face of multinational policies that harm our economy, citizens and welfare (in the Constitutional sense- see Article I, Sec.8). If the current financial crisis hasn't taught you that, then nothing will.
