Why does my hard drive keep wiping itself out? | | Published by: anonym 2008-11-25 |
A week ago my computer suddenly froze, a complete freeze and i couldnt ctrl+alt+del or anything. I tried turning it on and it would get to the windows logo screen, go through twice, and then blue screen for half a second and restart. I went into the BIOS and checked everything and somehow my harddrive only had 1MB used up... Ended up reformatting and reinstalling Windows. Josh Highlands Blog Blog Archive replacing the hardrive of an ipod:: plugged in the ipod, it reset itself, and then I was up and Using elmers glue may not have been the best idea, since the hard drive does get fairly hot. http://joshhighland.com/blog/2005/12/24/replacing-the-hardrive-of-an-ipod/HOME |
Just today this happened again, except first after the freeze i went in the BIOS and it couldn't even find the Harddrive, and now it's just back to how it was last time. I built the PC myself a few months ago by the way.
I have a lot of data that is really hard to all get back every time. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This problem can be solved by uninstalling new software, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info
bios wont tell u an estimated size remaining, just the total size of any hard drives detected
the missing 1 mb is just where ur hdd size is probs been rounded off to nearest whole number !!!
run scandisk if u have boot disk
or chkdsk /f if u dont have bootup disks, via windows via dos
could be a master boot file corruption thing or infection maybe
