i got wacked in the face with a ski pole yesterday when standing on the drop in for the park, the jerk yelled snowboarders need to get off my mountain and rode away before i knew what happend
Was it an old guy that hit you? The majority of lower level snowboarders don't really display any common sense when stopping on the hill. It's hard to make a run and not find at least one sitting behind a nole completely out of view until you are right on top of them. The park is a bit different because the tards that ski/ride through it are usually in the way of others hitting stuff. I've noticed that old skiers hate snowboarders for the same reasons young boarders hate skiers, merely ignorance. Usually, neither of the two have tried the other sport and therefore deem it stupid and a waste of time. While there are legitimate reasons to dislike snowboarders, such as the one I mentioned, its correctable. A little common sense goes a long way.

Ok i wouldn't smack a snowboarder in the face with my pole without being provoked, I don't hate all snowboarders, i hate the ones who act like idiots and cut up skiers all the time, and i hate the way they cut up the slopes!
Earlier this year, this snowboarder all day was purposely going straight at people and swerving at the last second, the less confident skiers kept falling over because of it, he did it to me, misjudged and went straight into me half way down the red run, i went nuts, i threw my pole at him, went and got it and then smacked him with it. Snowboarders are often cocky and rude aswel. But i go with my mate about twice a year and she's a snowboarder, i like her!

I don't know. I know someone who can snowboard and ski. I know how to ski, and I'd like to snowboard. I think it's an old rivalry, snowboarders vs. skiers. Frankly, snowboarders are stereotyped as bad eggs in the mountain scene. But whoever whacked you should have gotten whacked by your snowboard. :) And that's saying something, coming from a skier.
Too many snowboarders lack common courtesy and manners on the hill and in the lift lines. Like the boarder who was buzzing skiers to scare them then battered a skier from behind. Then took off when he realized he had committed a criminal act. He later was boasting about the damage he did the slow skier in the family zone. It is this attitude that should have all of those snowboarders in prison for 20 years minimum. Because skiers are like the now-a-day squares and preps. So when they see the fun boardin parties, sweet styles we have, and how easily we carve the slopes they get jealous. An as we all know from bullies back in the younger years, when someone gets jealous they make fun of and hate on those who they can never be or understand.
Another way of putting it is that they think they are better then us, mainly because more sufisicated/stuck up people pick up skiing as a hobby. Which the main reason for that is that skiing is more known as a relax sport, and snowboarding as an extreme sport.
