I get complimented from my mom, dad, step-dad, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, teacher, neighbors, stranger from the streets, and old people. They all say I'm a pretty girl, but I don't think so. All the kids at my old school called me ugly and threw things at me. Even boys said I was unattractive, except for one guy who said he didn't want to date me because I wasn't popular enough. He ended up being trash. I once wore a beautiful dress for homecoming and every single teacher said how beautiful I looked, but the only peers who said I looked pretty were my friends. No one else I knew said I was pretty, they just stared at me and grimaced. Do adults say that because they have to or they're just being honest? why do people think im trying to impress them? Adults tend to be a lot more honest and unbiased, especially about things like looks.
I have found that people will pick on you if you are not in their social group regardless of looks.

Because most of the people your age are probably immature, especially the boys. They think that everybody that doesn't look like someone on t.v. is not pretty but, thank fully not everyone is immature and can see that the people on t.v. are not real. I used to always wonder this to since the only guys or people in general that would tell me I was pretty were older. If I were you, I would just go by what YOU see in the mirror instead of what everyone else sees when they look at you.
You need to get past this perception you have of yourself. If you don't think that you are beautiful, then who else will? I'm sure that there is nothing wrong with you. I'm sure you're a very pretty girl. However, a lot of what goes on in the dating world at least in high school is based on cliques. If you're not in the popular circle, then you probably won't date a popular person. It is a sad reality of high school but one that you have to deal with. Also, you have to remeber that boys are much much more shallow than girls are, and it can take a lot to get our attention. I would tell you not to doubt yourself, bevause the first major battle is in your head. Tell yourself your're beautiful, and you'll want to work toward that goal. You will look good, feel good, and guys will be all over you. Confidence is the key. And if you feel comfortable reaching out, trying looking for romance within your own social circle, you never know what you might find.
