Just curious why, if atheists don't believe in any type of god, then why are you in a section that discusses religion and spirituality? Not trying to be rude, just curious why the "absence" of something causes you to think so much about it?
Because to atheists its like telling children that theres no santa. Same element of mischief, same basic principle
because alot of the questions asked are asked towards atheists such as the question you asked yourself in the R&S section....:)
Wow. This question was just asked about 5 minutes ago. THat has to break a record :)

You cannot be serious? This was asked about 5 minutes ago.
Its such a stupid question anyway - its like saying you what is the point in discussing alcoholism if you're not even drunk.
*STILL A GOOD QUESTION??????*
to drink...
*drink*
BECAUSE ITS FUN, now scram

I find it amusing that someone who has been signed on for more than two years has NOT seen this question posted at least 500 times!!!!! CR Blog » Blog Archive » The Atheist Bus:: Oct 21, 2008 Not only do you appear to be offended by this ad (can atheists not take . There is so much in everyday a priori existence to marvel at http://www.creativereview.co.uk/crblog/the-atheist-bus/HOME |
My question is WHY are 'christians' so concerned with WHY atheists are here??????
I don't believe in the any of the gods of Mythology, but find the study of those myths fascinating....does that mean I should never post on the Mythology page.
I have no pets; does that forbid me from every posting on the "Pets" page??
I am not gay; does that mean I have no business posting on the "gay and lesbian" page.....which is over-run with Evangelical, born-again, and assorted Christian bigots screaming their bible babble crap about the the 'abominable gays'????? If they are NOT gay, themselves, why do they FLOCK to that page like bees to honey????
Do I have to be a Muslim to post on the Islam page, or Jewish to post on the Buddhism page...both of which are FILLED WITH BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN ANTI SEMITES ??????
It seems Christian feel they have a god-given right to invade every page on this web site and peddle their perverted views about the rest of the world, but if anyone jumps on the Religion page to counter the hate-filled Christian propaganda, the ameners and bible belters go ballistic!!!!
Not trying to be rude, just curious why the 'truth' of something causes so many Christians to rebel against it? Are they afraid of the TRUTH????
Edit
Mel:
Sorry, but your excuses ring hollow. You claim to have the TRUTH, but that is a personal assumption, since you cannot PROVE your TRUTH...anymore than any BIBLE believing Christian can. What you have is BELIEF, passed down to you by a church and a family who have no more been able to PROVE the truth of their beliefs than you.
What bothers most semi-educated Christians is that atheists and non believers, for the most part, became atheists and non-believers after an intense study of the errors, lies, and deviousness of RELIGIONISTS. Most know MORE about the Bible, the Quran, the Book of Mormon, the Vedas, the Upanishads, and the HISTORY of Religion than those who CLAIM belief in those religions.
And the claims made by atheists, regarding Religion and Spirituality, can be backed up by facts....not a blind belief in myths, legends, fables, lies, deceitful perversions of scripture, all designed to fit sectarian belief systems.
P.S. If there were no Atheists, Agnostics, Pagans, Wiccans, Garden variety non-believers here....you would be 'preaching to empty air'... That would make this board a CHRISTIAN CHAT ROOM. And THAT would be a gross perversion of the purpose of a Q &A venue.
Because they like making fun of jesus freaks and putting him and them down.
Damn, we're starting early today, aren't we?
*Jack* Ahhh
Because religion is all around us, impacts my life, blah blah blah...
Just like the first eighty thousand times this question was asked. Like many atheists, I used to be Christian. The transition involved a lot of thought and introspection that took place over a long period of time. When you think about a subject for that long, getting to know the details and issues of the religion in a search for the truth, it becomes quite the pet subject. A discussion format such as this one will therefore hold a certain degree of fascination for you.
Also, as a philosopher, scientist and biologist who upholds truth and open-mindedness above any other concepts we have from any place, the whole intelligent design movement is quite disturbing to me so for that reason also, I am also interested in this forum in order to grasp exactly where the followers of intelligent design are coming from and what their perspectives are.
Hope this helps. It's just one perspective but I would imagine that it's a common one.
Annoy the bible thumpers
check resolved questions, it gets asked like 300 times a day...
I don't have to believe in gods, or want to believe in gods, to be curious about the people who believe in gods, or be affected by the belief in gods,
The word god is in the pledge - not unconstitutional, not a slippery slope to Theocracy, thatâ ™s one,
The words god is on the money, same as above,
Politicians use the idea of god to create a wedge issue with same sex marriage, strumming up homophobia, quoting from the bible, even thou I'm not a gay man, civil liberties are being denied - because of the idea of god
Evangelical Christians are trying to put Creationism and Genesis into public school science class under the disguise of bogus science "Intelligent Design",
This will cripple our nationâ ™s education.
I work with religious theists,
One does not have to believe in the idea or even want to believe in the idea to be affected by the idea.
Cuz we just want 2 prove to those religious b@stards how wrong they are. Maybe it will stop them from being so damn snobby and 'know-it-all'
can you think of a better place to hang out?
ya know some of us at work don't actually WANT to work, so we gotta do something.
Because there is no group of people more qualified to answer the hundreds of questions asked both to and about us weekly.
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
hy don't you research this question rather then make us read it yet once again. It and the "difference between Catholics and Christian" (rolls eyes) are only asked about 10 times a day. EVERY DAY.
They want to be here and have the right to be period. End of story final answer.
No it's not a good question and if they are giving their reasons why they want to who are you to judge if their reasons are good are not. Reasons are subjective.
Indeed! The same logic applies to the mere commoners who daily visit the "Royalty" section - and without so much as an earldom to their name. Furthermore, I see no reason at all for non-pugilists to be in the "Boxing" secsion. And ... by the way .. I'm not sure why we have a "Pets" section at all. After all, even a very smart chimp might not be able to abide by the "community guidelines."
Did you know you are the 34,876th person that can't understand that this is a forum ABOUT religion, not a religious "chat room?" The difference is not subtle.
Question has just been asked.
Oh, and I'm on here to better educate myself of the doomed brains of learning.
Edit: To answer your question, I believe that some atheist are on here to somehow crush the idea of God. Is that better?
To discuss religion and spirituality.
You don't have to be a cat to hang out in the cat's section.
And didn't we just answer this question?
http://answers.yahoo.com/search/search_r...
the little dialog box with 'similarly asked questions' have you stumped???
EDIT
how stupid of Yahoo not to name the category CHRISTIANITY and everyone else that will burn in hell...
EDIT
since there are other religions and atheists in R&S, technically the Christians SHOULD NOT BE HERE....
What the Bible says about Non-Christians
They are without God.
"Whosoever ... abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God." -- 2 John 9
They are all antichrists.
"For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist." -- 2 John 7
They should be shunned. Neither marry nor be friends with them.
"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? ... Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord." -- 2 Cor.6:14-17
They should be killed.
"If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you ... Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die." -- Dt.13:6-10
Why is it the same thing vice versa? Dont yall have a church to go at this early hour? A place to be on your knees?
I think most of us are just sick of all the preaching and religous nonsense...we have built up the habit to automatically say BULL§hit!!! to any religious/spiritual statement.
Do you believe in the god, Zeus? So then why are you here in the religion and spirituality section - since this is the place to discuss gods and spirits?
They're practicing here for the day when they begin invading churches to destroy them and torture Christians.
Well, Yahoo Answers didn't set up an 'Atheist' category. Also, when they called this section, Religion and Spirituality, they made a BIG MISTAKE. What they meant to say was "Belief Systems."
Polytheism, monotheism and atheism are all belief systems. Theism and non-theism are belief systems.
Another way to look at this, if women in 'Women's Issues" are saying bad stuff about men, then of course the men want to defend themselves. Also, if women were saying that women are the only people who matter, men might want to interject there also.
erm this is the second time this question has been posed in a matter of minutes....
for gods sake, think about it!
because (1 John 5:19-20) the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one. But we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us intellectual capacity that we may gain the knowledge of the true one. . . . AND
(1 Peter 5:8) YOUR adversary, the Devil, walks about like a roaring lion, seeking to devour [someone].
(2 Corinthians 11:14-15) And no wonder, for Satan himself keeps transforming himself into an angel of light. It is therefore nothing great if his ministers also keep transforming themselves into ministers of righteousness. But their end shall be according to their works.
