Ive had alot of questions about tattooing and anytime i ask a question people say if you dont no then you shouldnt be trying! And its not just me i have read posts with other people asking and they got the same type of answers, the few people that did give out info, people attack them and said "WHEN WAS IT OK TO GIVE OUT INFO ON TATTOOING"! Its like artists and even shops dont want people to learn how to, Unless we learn the way they did or at least the way they think we should! thanks
I will agree 100% with Sand3419. The person asking the questions usually just want to know enough to perform a shady tattoo on themselves or others, and are usually minors. Additionally, if you truly want to know information on a certain procedure and such, why not visit a site such as askbme.com, where you know the people answering your questions are indeed professionals, or better yet, take a walk down to your local parlor and see if they are willing to answer your questions or even take you on as an apprentice.
You know I am not really sure. That's messed up that someone wouldn't want to give out advice to help someone else become better at their job/career.
Because most of the time, the person asking is asking because they are under age and trying to get around that,... or they want to 'cheap out' and not pay for a quality tattoo from a professional,.... or they do not want to go the route that they should go if they are truly interested in becoming a tattooist - that being, becoming an apprentice at a reputable licensed shop.
There are people who are poor artists, immature, buying cheap poor quality inks, not using an auto clave, who have no idea about tattoo infections, MRSA, Blood Borne Pathogens doing bad tattoos in unsafe environments, who do not know the proper depth of the needle or why, who have bad lines and do not know how to shade, etc. etc. etc.... These people just want to 'be a tattoo artist' NOW, and do not want to go through what you need to go through to become a good tattooist.
Teenagers are flocking to 'home tattooist' and there's a million horror stories about infections, sicknesses, con artists taking advantage of teens innocence (even child molesters in a trailer down the block),....
There is a big difference from a bad tattoo and a quality tattoo, and learning from home in your teens on yourself and friends is just not the way to go.
So, that is why we don't want to help you do this.
Here is an excellent site about current information on tattoos:
http://tattoo.about.com/
check it out
It's kind of like trying to learn to perform surgery by asking questions on line. Report Abuse
I don't know.... I guess if someone is going to do it then there really is no stopping them so its better to give them good advice than no advice at all?
I don't know, I'm getting my first one and I'm def. going to someone who knows what their doing!! :)
Dude,
just forget about them and check this website out for all your questions:

Hey Chris,
I'm tiered too to fine out info on tattooing too, but what I have learn is
if they don't want to tells you then you just have to experiment yourself
by finding a good tattoo whearhouse or supplies store and buy equiment yourself and they will show you how to operate the Tat. Guns. From there draw some picture and tattoo to pork skin after that buy books that show you what type of art you want to go in as a tattoo
artist. That's is where you experience come in as you trial and erro.
Hope that will help you with what you need to ask.
Good Luck

Because they dont want some moron to try to DIY it, and do it from home with an ink pen, to be frank. there's too much risk for infection, etc when you do it yourself.
I dont think artists and shops dont want people to get tattoos, of course they do, or else they wouldnt be in business, they just dont want anyone trying to do it themselves at home.
I dont see a problem with giving out general advice, especially if the person giving advice has a couple tattoos, or at least 1 themselves.
Also, if you're looking into this as a profession, and you want to know more about the business, or becoming a tattoo artist - why not bang on every tattoo parlor in your city - and see if they will give you a shot at an apprentice position?
Get your artwork together, and show them that you've got what it takes, but that you also have some humility and you're willing to work your way up.
