Two questions:
1)
Which of these servers would be best for running Vbulletin:
Intel Xeon Dempsey 5050 Dual Core Single Chip server
Intel Xeon Woodcrest 5130 Dual Core Single Chip server
Intel Xeon 3.0, 2 x 3.0GHz, 800MHz, 2 x 2MB - HT
AMD Opteron 248 2 x 2.2Ghz
AMD Opteron 2212 2 x 2.0GHz WarezRocker - Free RapidShare HotFile Megaupload Warez Crack :: The challenge of understanding these data has led to the development of new gives network administrators a way to maximize the usage of their servers. http://www.warezrocker.net/search/clustering.htmlHOME |
...or another suggestion?
2)
Is it worth upgrading from a single processor/dual core woodcrest to a single processor/quad core clovertown for $20 a month extra? Is the increase in performance significant, specifically in regards to mysql related websites such as vbulletin. The specifics are:

(Clovertown) Intel Xeon 5310 4 x 1.60GHz 1066MHz
1. AMD Opteron 2212 is dual core. So, does that mean you would be using 4 cores total? If you are talking about 2 physical processors (dual processor, dual core), that = 4 cores and would be your best option. If you aren't, then go with: Intel Xeon Woodcrest 5130 Dual Core Single Chip server
2. I would personally stay with the 5130.
i'd go with 5130 single woodcrest especially if you have option later to add a 2nd 5130 for dual 5130 = 2x2 cores = quad core and with higher cpu raw mhz speed and higher bus of 1333mhz vs 1066mhz there's potentially a higher amount of memory bandwidth being ultilized if the system builder pairs the cpu/board with sync speeded memory i.e. DDR2-5400/PC2-667 versus DDR2-4200/PC2-533 ECC FB-DIMMs
