| | Where can Outpost be purchased in the UK, not via the internet or phoning outside of UK but in stores. Evergreen State Fairgrounds - Where To Purchase Tickets:: Purchase tickets on line at Ticketmaster or by phone at (206) 628-0888, or at ticket outlets such as: Fred Meyer, Tower Records, The Wherehouse, FYE, http://www.evergreenfair.org/page11790.aspHOME |
Antignum website makes a comment about buying offline but this just leads you to another online website somewhere in France?. According to a person I spoke with today the uk branch of WSKA is now support only and do not deal with sales.
I had thought of using my collegues in Belgium to acquire one for me but both FNAC (major european wide group) and Excell do not list it on their websites. Where to Purchase:: Visit any of these restaurants and complement a superb meal with a bottle of our fine wine. You can also purchase a bottle of our wine to enjoy at home at http://amwellvalleyvineyard.com/purchase.htmHOME |
So are there copies to be had in stores or is it internet only. If the latter then I will stick with either V1 (free) or migrate to another vendor
Word of mouth is good, reviews are better, but seeing a package on a shelf works wonders for those impulse buyers

I would suspect that the sales volume would not be large enough to justify all the overheads involved - and these would not just be a cardboard box and a paper manual, but the substantial "cut" that high-street stores would demand merely for shelf space (as discussed with respect to the computer games industry here (http://www.avault.com/articles/getarticle.asp?name=fathom7)). And would you still want the cardboard box and manual if it added, say, £15 to the price? (e.g. Norton Firewall 2003 will cost you £40 best price in the UK - Outpost at US$40 comes to £24.45).
Retail may still have an advantage in volume sales - but I would suggest that this is due to the inertia of most purchasers. Hopefully this should disappear and the impulse buyer (who unwittingly supports the heavily-marketing-but-rubbish products) will give way to the informed purchaser (who does research on both quality and price before laying out).
Paranoid200.
I agree with your comments about making informed purchase decisions however my comment about "impulse buy" is that it is probable that an end user will remember a magazine review or saleman makes recommendations when he is selling a pc, or the user just goes looking because he was told or read that he needs firewall protection.
If the shop does not have Outpost then another product will get sold. At that point it is unlikely the end user will consider another vendor unless it fails in its duty.
Now I have mad a decision to buy Outpost, however I do not wish to use my credit card to do so. So I am in catch 22.
I have been informed by WSKA that Outpost is on the shelves of outlets in France so justification for boxing, distribution etc was made, so why not UK. ZoneAlarm and similar "low volume" products are on shelves.
