These days, far too often, "country music" is so poppish and not country at all. Why can pop stars stick with pop and let the true country folk do the country singing?

Well country people try very hard to conform.
The country music singers are the only ones, I have found, to label themselves in their music. Songs like "Redneck Girl" or "Honky-Tonk Bedonk-a-donk" or whatever are ridiculous. They are becoming less and less popular, but it is almost as if they try to make fun of themselves to turn it around. The truth is, that just doesn't work. It didn't help in elementary school with bullying and it doesn't help in front of the world.
