my niece went to the dr. today and they said her blood pressure was 5 points higher in one arm than the other. she is 6 years old healthy child , i have never heard of such. she now has to go to a specialist. Elastic Waist - Rants and musings on weight, body image ::

The Dr should of ended the sentence with,"that's totally normal"
What? 5 points doesn't indicate anything. Everybody is slightly different on one side compared to the other. If it was 15 or 20 points, I'd say it might be something.

It could be related to the size and tightness of the blood pressure cuff, the doctor's ears, her anxiety level, etc. It may have hurt her arm the first time they did it and so it was a teensy bit higher when they repeated it.
