Grooming http://www.hamster-heaven.com/breeding_02.htmlHOME | Im going to be getting a hamster but i have never had one before and i don't know if i should get a dwarf hamster or a syrian hamster. I have heard that dwarf hamsters are quite fierce and that they bit.Which sort of hamster should i get?
Get a Syrian they are sweet and learn to be tame. Dwarfs are wild and most don't get tame so if you try to hold a dwarf it might jump out. I am getting a Syrian Teddy Bear hamster or a Syrian Panda bear Hamster, probably the teddy bear hamster is what Im getting but I might get a Panda.
Yes, get a syrian. Dwarfs do tend to be bratty and they aren't fun to cuddle! Good luck!
I have 2 Chinese Dwarf hamsters and they are VERY Docile and only bite if they smell something that you have on your hands. ( Like if you had handled food they may nibble on you but they have only done that like 1 or 2 times to me) They are very sweet too. They don't usually try to get away from me. Try looking into them. If you want a cute, docile hamster that rarely bites, Then this is the hamster for you.
i have never had a syrian hamster but i have had a dwarf. they are very protective of their cage and can bite. the one i had once she was out of her cage she was fine but i had to get her out with a toilet paper tube so she wouldn't bite me she also liked to chew on the paper tube but she was so cute. i also had a panda bear hamster they are total sweeties. they are the nicest he never bit a thing, just a hole in his cage to escape. Syrians are bigger, easier to handle, and live longer.
Syrian,
if your a first time owner then they will be easier to look after as they are bigger so easier to hold and things,
i have too and they are just like little teddy bears,
i also have one trained to take treats off of me ^_^

ok here is the first thing
dwarves are lonely if they are by trhemselves
they are better in groups of 3,4,5
they are very violent and bite a lot!
they can easliy
escape through the bars!
syrians!
syrians are very friendly and they only live by themselves!
they do not bite at all
syrians are not as fast as dwareves
and cant escape throught bars!
but some can!
hope i helped
syrian beacause since you are a first time owner.after that and you get used to it you can buy a dwarf if you want
dwarf, they sometimes bite, but only when scared. treat it with care and respect and get the dwarf a few buddies :D
get one of each
syrians are better for first time owners.
they are easily tamed ( males) and slower then dwarfs.
all hamsters will bite at first, blow on them when they go to bite you,
after a while they become loving.
females arre harder to tame though.
If you were to get dwarves, you'd need to get 2.
Hi,
Both dwarf and syrian hamsters are cute but for a 1st timer I would suggest a Syrian hamster :)
