I am in 8th grade and I need to come up with an idea for the science fair by tomorrow! What should I do??? It can't be anything like : Which ones better?/ Which one works better? which laundry Detergent is better. What I mean is that It has to be scientific and no consumer project. Do u hve any ideas? Maybe smething in the 8th grade category but not soo hard. Something that woon't cost too much mney and take a long time to do. Any good links????
Do a water project that was done by S'pore to get good clean water from used water before putting it into treatment process for drinking.
Simple.......just use a big plastic see-through container and separate it at the centre into 2 parts upper & lower with a support layer of tiny stones on top of a sand bed, using as a filter to run down the unclean used water. The bottom collection will be clear clean water before treatment with chemical elements. It is a simple project for from S'pore. Check the details from Yahoo or Wikipedia on Newater from S'pore. okay well, when i was in 8th grade... i did my science fair project on how are crystals made or something like that. it was pretty darn good cause i won first prize.
Just the idea by tomorrow or do you have to have the experiment done by tomorrow? If it is just the idea then here.
This one is easy if you can use your classmates as subjects. If your teacher will allow it.
Test the effects of music on reading comprehension.
What you do is you is divide your class up into two groups.
One group is the "music" group. (experimental group)
One group is the "no music" group.(control group)
Make sure you randomly assign the people into the two groups. You can do this using a tool like this.
http://www.assumption.edu/users/avadum/a...
n per group = number in each group(class split in half)
Get with your teacher and ask her/him for a standardized reading that has questions that are answered afterward. I am sure she has something and she will understand what you want if you ask her/him. (example: reading from 8th grade achievement test)
Pick a song you want to play. Perhaps something popular.
What you will do is you will separate the two randomly assigned groups into different rooms.
One group will read the standardized reading while listening to the music and the other group will read it while not listening to music.
You will collect the readings after a certain amount of time and then give everyone the questions. They will have only a certain amount of time to answer the questions too. (Don't give them too much time but give them enough. Maybe time how long it takes you to read the reading and how long it takes you to answer the questions and base the times off of that.)
Also make sure you collect the readings before handing out the questions.
You can then grade the questions and average the scores of each group.
So:
Music group=experimental group
No music group=control group
Music= Independent Variable
Reading comprehension/how well people scored = Dependent Variable
Hypothesis: People who listen to music while reading will do poorer on the test.
Relate to real life: People who study with music playing are more distracted than those who do not.
Hope this helps! This is a really easy experiment. It is cheap. And it is very practical to real life CR-V - Page 2 - Car Forums and Automotive Chat:: How do I reset the Maintenance Light? 1998-2003 cr-v. Auto Tranny Heeeeelp! whats this strange noise. I wish you the best!
how about doing something on like cell or a disease?? http://www.invitrogen.com/site/us/en/hom...
or just do a report on an animal you like.
goodluck!
one hundred fifty years ago when I was in middle school I made a Volcano from paper machet using old news papers and soaking them in water and using flour and water made a paste. I fashioned them over a baloon to make the center hollow so I could conceal Dry Ice inside to make smoke come out the top. I know you will do better but it was fun and I got my grade. Poster paints colored the Volcano and it looked good.
Good luck

You are just a little too late to prepare for tomorrow. Science fair projects should be on a topic that you have spent time investigating prior to the fair.
OObleck! easy and fun. if u do it let me know how it turns out.
If you put in Science Fair projects you will get a lot of hits. It needs to be something that interests you so that you can do it yourself and enjoy it.
one time, for the science fair i did it over what skittles people liked better and what was the color that was the most in the package. lol
put a marshmallow in a beaker turn on the bunsent burner under it and watch

It's psychology. The stuff works with generic slow readers, but not dyslexics, they're word blind.
Keep them on it for 15 minu5es, if they "like it" then you're in the money.
