My adult sister lies and exaggerates constantly (not only about important things but also small things). She is overweight and sometimes slovenly. She manipulates every situation to her advantage. If she has a wealthy friend, she is offended if they do not pay for the activity. She has to be the center of attention and talks to strangers all the time. It is hard to explain this last part but she does not seem to care about other people's discomfort. For example, when we went on vacation, she was looking for something in her suitcase in the hotel lobby blocking the double sliding doors, instead of moving to the side of the lobby. (Petty example but I'm not sure how to describe it) Is there some sort of personality disorder that this type of behavior fits into.

she sounds like a pathalogical liar.. Unfortunantly people who are severely depressed get like this. Have you talked to her? My ex boyfriends parents were like this. They lied and were rude to everyone in their way. They were manipulative and were druggies and did everything they could to get drugs. Such as my dad had neck surgery and i was 14 and i drank at their house, they would blackmail me to get my dads pain pills or tell him i was stealing there liquor.. i was 14... and nieve. Not saying your sister is a druggy. But severe depression is a sign of this she may not act like it but hatread to others is a sign of what you dont have.. and jealousy because you cant get that... Seems to me your sister is overcompensating for her slovenly appearance & weight instead of seeking help for both. So no,doubt it's a personality disorder just a (bad) way of distracting her appearance from others.
She seeks attention from others-we all do to some extent,but doesn't seem to know any way to get it then by her rude actions ie (sigh)
Think she needs a boost in her lack of self-esteem,why don't you give it a try?
