if it was a choc. covered nut and only ate 1/2 it will be okay.
give it a few pieces of dry dog food, this will help it not to be absorbed as much.
your right to never give your pet choc. or anything surgarless, no raisens or grapes or onions.
give the pup a hug for me
It can make them really sick. I know your not supposed to feed your dog chocolate but I give mine a little bit every now and then (he is dal). He gets like 1/4 of a Reece's cup something small like that, now on halloween my boyfriends mom fed him a chocolate cupcake and he was okay. Well she is getting a double whammy, chocolate and macadamia nuts, both no-no's to give to your dog.
Macadamia nuts should be avoided. In fact most nuts are not good for a dogs health since their high phosporus content is said to lead to bladder stones. White chocolate: 200 ounces per pound of body weight. It takes 250 pounds of white chocolate to cause signs of poisoning in a 20-pound dog, 125 pounds for a 10-pound dog.
Milk chocolate: 1 ounce per pound of body weight. Approximately one pound of milk chocolate is poisonous to a 20-pound dog; one-half pound for a 10-pound dog. The average chocolate bar contains 2 to 3 ounces of milk chocolate. It would take 2-3 candy bars to poison a 10 pound dog. Semi-sweet chocolate has a similar toxic level.
Sweet cocoa: 0.3 ounces per pound of body weight. One-third of a pound of sweet cocoa is toxic to a 20-pound dog; 1/6 pound for a 10-pound dog.
Baking chocolate: 0.1 ounce per pound body weight. Two one-ounce squares of bakers' chocolate is toxic to a 20-pound dog; one ounce for a 10-pound dog.
Since it sounds like she only had a small amount of both, she will probably be ok. Keep an eye on her and if you see any thing out of the normal for her in behavior, call your vet. Dogs can have seizures if they eat chocolate. Maybe you could feed her hydrogen peroxide to help her throw up. Give her about a cupful.
"Dog Eats Chocolate requires immediate attention. Symptoms will vary based on the weight of your dog and how much was eaten. Treatment will include vomitting and medications that are normally given for a racing heart and seizures. Call your veterinarian immediately."
If it was milk chocolate she should be ok. If it was baker's chocolate or dark chocolate she should be taken to a vet. Dark chocolate is much more dangerous to a dog than milk chocolate. Her small size will also be a factor against her.
Just keep an eye on her. If anything happens, you will notice it sooner rather than later. If she develops a rash or becomes extremely itchy, you can give her half or maybe a quarter of a Benadryl tablet, as long as she is not allergic. If you don't feel comfortable with this or it gets worse, take her to an animal hospital immediately.
Your dog will probably be fine, since she didn't get a lot of it. However, she is a small dog so you should keep an eye on her. The macadamia nut is probably more dangerous to her than the chocolate.
Macadamias are one of the few nuts that are poisonous to dogs. Chocolate can be poisonous too, but is more dangerous in it's more pure form (like the unsweetened baker's chocolate or cocoa powder) than it would be when it's mixed with all of the other ingredients that make it so yummy to us.
Keep an eye on your Maltese for signs of stomach upset, but don't panic. She should be fine.
Be careful with the macadamias in the future.
She may get very sick, as dogs are allergic to both macadamia nuts and chocolate. Especially since she is a puppy and is small, it will be more harmful to her system than it would be to a bigger dog. I would watch her behavior and be ready to take her to the vet or an emergency clinic if she starts showing signs of sickness.
Well I am not sure if your going to like this answer but heres the link:

Sometimes nothing happens. Try to keep them hyper and play with her a lot. If she starts to lay down and be tired, get her to a vet. When I was a kid I slept over at a friend's house. Her puppy ate a chunk of chocolate and was fine. She was the same age so just keep a good eye on her and don't leave her for a second. If you can keep her up the chocolate should not have a effect but a small stomachache.
P.S. DO NOT MAKE HER THROW UP!!! IT CAUSES PUPPY'S THORATS TO BURN AND HURTS THEM!!!
Definitely take her to your vet and get her checked out, and see if you can get her to throw up. It might make her sick because of her size and age, but she probably won't die. Chocolate eats at dogs' livers, and it takes more than one mishap to do lethal damage.
ok right now go to the ve just in case to be on the safe side
i dont want you to get scared but adog can get very very sick if he eats choclate even die from it..i am srry if i am worrying u but go to the vet
