Ok, I stayed over at a homies place for the weekend and when I came back, one of my gerbils tails was cut off at the half way point!. it grew back but its still as short was it was when it got cut off. it was two other gerbils in the cage. what could of happend?
Chances are they're posturing and one of the other ones bit it off. It might, however, have gotten stuck under or between something and he either ripped it off or chewed it himself to escape. Either way, he'll be perfectly happy without it. I would keep a watch on them to be sure they're not hurting eachother for a while. Keep a close eye for a week at least. Glad to hear he's ok : )
Maybe the the gerbils got in a fight and your other gerbil bit part of his tail off.
they tried to kill each other. seperate them! see a vet!!
Well what I have seen of most rodents is when the suffer some kind of injury to an extremity they have been known to chew the damaged part off to protect themselves from infection.

It sounds like one of the other gerbils might have attacked it, but I'm not sure...that or something sharp in the cage caught on it...check for sharp edges.

if he had a wheel it could have broke off or ike everyone else he could have gotten in a fight with a diff gerbil
