When I was checking in for my return flight home last month I found a good way to spend those last few pesos in my pocket. There is an $18.00 USD departure tax per pax. I asked the lady how it could be paid and she said credit card or cash. (US dollars or Argentine Peso) I then asked, if I could pay with a combination of dollars and pesos? She said sure. I then emptied all my remaining pesos, including coins on to the counter. We added it up and I paid the balance in US dollars. I never stopped to figure if she gave me a good exchange rate. I just got back from 2 weeks in Argentina. I had 300 pesos left and brought them back. This is now my excuse to go back next year. As always, I had a great time in Buenos Aires and Bariloche. I did notice, though, that prices have gone up since last year. 10-20% on some things but some "tourist" stuff has gone up by up to 50% in the last year. The FX rate they give you at the counter is not very good, alas, I think it is a great option to clear your pockets of the last remaining pesos.... unless you plan to come back to EZE in the next few weeks!! :D
