I am buying some Pro Taper Triple clamps and I have the choice of 20mm Offset. What is that exactly and what does it do?

offset think about it its either offset by stock by forward or back causing the front to be shorter or longer most longer... improved turning and handling well ive not found much that will help othe rthan it changes the way it handles it moves the handle bars if you not sure about it get stock but really if you dont like the way the bike handles try the 20 offset i know it dont sound like much but from what i read many do change them might try a forum this will help you they will be someone knows RGA Project - Phase One::
Not sure if I would do the diagonal brace again, it does greatly reduce the Over a period of several months the design of the triple clamps was refined.

it can either change the rake angle of the front end or lengthen the wheel base.either one will affect the handling at high speeds or turning radius in cornering.
Offsets move the centerline of the handlebars either back toward the seat or forward to the headlight. Why are you buying if you don't know for?
