i've got them everywhere. Ones that stand out in memory as being most painful were the toe and shoulder blade. I've got one on my chest right between the twins and that was completly painless. Most painfull part is just a sharp burning but it really isn't that bad. Too many people have too many tats for it to really hurt bad!!! Pain levels vary from person to person, plus artists use different styles making some hurt worse then others. The more boney an area the more its going to hurt. I have large tattoos on the outside of both legs (knee to ankle) and they didn't hurt very bad at all. I will say though, the closer to the back of my legs he got the more painful it was. Everyone's pain tolerance is different but in general, the spots on your body that have more nerve endings and are more sensitive will hurt the most. Those that say "it hurts more on the bone" are wrong. Tattoos generally don't hurt as much as most people expect, but if you are really worried I would start with something on your back.

i just got a tattoo done and was talking to the artist (which was covered in tattoos) but he said anywhere yous body bends or twists is painfull. for example, lower back upper rib cage, chest. arms really dont hurt or your upper back doesn't.
