I received a picture file with the extension VNA (picture1.VNA)which I can't open.
Is there a possibility to convert such files to something viewable in ACDSee ?

You're stumping the Google Researchers with this one so far. Checking
a popular directory of file types doesn't yield an answer:

And thanks for an interesting question. I was not familiar with .vna
and searched for: file extension list at Google. I came across The
File Extension Source at http://filext.com which is just one of many
web sites of this type that defines file extensions.
.vna is listed as:
.VNA JVC JLIP (controls transfer images from digital camcorders)
Searching further for "jvc .vna" I found
http://www.jvc.ca/downloads/GR-DVM901.pdf , a document that talks
about JVC software and images. It appears that .vna is a format that
saves images as an album of single still images that were captured
with a JVC digital camcorder. They note that these albums are only
viewable while using JLIP Video Capture Software.
If the person that has sent you these pictures had saved each as a
single image rather than an album, and selected .jpg as the file
format to save in from the JVC software they used to create the album,
you would be able to view these in MANY different software programs
including your browser. By saving them as an album, you are limited to
viewing them in proprietary JVC software.
I then searched for JLIP Software and found
http://www.jvcservice.com/custrel/download.htm where it appears that
all of the JVC video software is available for free download. I did
not try to install any program and consequently, did not have the
opportunity to read their licensing agreement. I also have no details
on your computer system and operating system and can not be sure which
program you will need to view these files nor if they will run on your
system.
At this point, I will make two recommendations:
1. The simplest solution is to have the sender of these images save
them as individual .jpg file sand remail them to you, or...
2. Ask them which JVC program and version they are using to view these
files and download a copy from the above link if your operating system
is supported and the license is, indeed free for personal use.
Good luck viewing your images, and if anything above is unclear,
please do ask for clarification.

Do recall though, that the absolute simplest way to solve this would
be to have your sender resave these images as individual .jpg images
and resend them. This would eliminate your having to install new
software just to view these images.

I understood that in order to download the right program and the right
drivers,
I have to know the model of the JVC digital camera my sender used. I
hoped for a simpler way.
In any case I'm very content with you answer.
