Using MS Journal
Published by: rose 2010-03-12
  • I am working on a project and want to track my activities through Journal in Outlook. I have set up a separate Folder for the project for this purpose. I know how to input activities via Journal direct or by associating the activity with a Contact. I would like to print out a summary of all the activities I have completed in order to prepare an account or a report for the project committee e.g. all phone calls, emails, meetings etc (I can print of one page for each activity but this is not helpful).

Current View>By Type, then hold down CTRL and click on each of the headings (ie: Entry Type: Letter) in turn, then go to File>Print..., you can get somewhat more of a summary than it seems you are getting now. Unfortunately, there is no way to summarize the data you have any more than this other than you manually re-entering it into some other program (Excel) for analysis. You may want to try playing with the Views in the View Menu>

Current View -- Entry List may be what you're looking for - if not, you can create your own custom view that is very powerful, but also very time-consuming. The decision on how much to tradeoff of that is yours. :) If you'd like to add anything to this question, please feel free to open a clarification request. Sincerely, /gleffler-ga
