How do I switch between Excel workbooks by using alt-tab?
I'm sure that I used to do this all the time, but must have changed
some type of setting in Excel.
Current situation with Excel:
Running single instance of Excel with multiple workbooks open
Alt-tab shows one Excel icon that takes me to the active workbook when
selected
If I want to switch between workbooks I must go to the active
workbook, select "Window", then select the workbook I want
Current Situation with Powerpoint:
This is how I want Excel to work (and how my powerpoint still
operates)
Running a single instance of PP with multiple files open
Each file is shown in alt-tab as a separate icon
Alt tab instantly takes me between files
Note that I do not want to run multiple instances of Excel to create
the separate icons.

Hi nick37,
Perhaps you mean Ctrl-Tab rather than Alt-Tab? Give it a try and let
me know. If that doesn't work, try Ctrl-F6 or Ctrl-Shift-F6. hummer Using alt-tab with Excel:: How do I switch between Excel workbooks by using alt-tab? Hi nick37-ga,
Open the Tools menu, select Options, select the View tab, and under
Show, make sure the "Windows in Taskbar" checkbox is checked.
I know this works in Excel 2000, but I don't know about other
versions. Does this answer your question?

Thanks efn-ga, that was exactly it! I have no idea how I unselected
it, but am very relieved. Please post as the answer.
Also, hummer, thanks for the info on control-f6. That is a good way
to switch back and forth, although without the alt-tab style option
display.

Hi nick37-ga,
Thanks for accepting my answer:
Open the Tools menu, select Options, select the View tab, and under
Show, make sure the "Windows in Taskbar" checkbox is checked.
Search strategy:
Searched Google for:
excel alt-tab
This led me to this page on the Annoyances.org web site:
http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/win2000/t1053459110
One of the messages on this page mentioned this configuration option
and I confirmed its operation by testing with Excel 2000.
