They have multiple tweens setup on the image, but I couldnt see any filters. The x R/G/B) + values (under color:advanced) were up, and gradually bought down, where one of the tweens in between had the alpha down to 0, at one point. Very much a manual thing (though you could simulate this all under AS). Most likely this is done with filters. I don't know if this work on any other background than white. So you'll have to set your background or the graphics behind the image you want this transition to happen white. Then create two keyframes, one in the beginning of the transition and the other in the end of the transition.
Go to your filters panel and add a filter "Adjust color". For the first keyframe set the numbers for "brightness" and "contrast" to 100 and in the last keyframe set them both to 0. Now apply a tween between these two keyframes.

How would I simulate that with AS? The color manipulations have always been the biggest problem I've had in AS.
