Probably because throughout history, when someone speaks of racism they automatically assume it is a white aggressor and black victim thing. They don't even consider any other ethnicity's just white and black. Most white people are not racist and most blacks don't play the victim. But we love to point the finger of accusation at each other. I think that before we accuse one of being racist or using the race card, we should get the facts. It's not always about race.
Insecurity? I'm not sure. I don't get annoyed when someone brings up racism. I think it is a silly subject to just randomly talk about though. It's not like we can do much to prevent it right? It's going to happen through something or another. I really don't know what to tell you.
Because they don't know how to deal with the topic.
hat state meant is racist make sure your own ands are clean before you make fun of others and a lot ofpeoplee say if youdidn'tt vote for obama your racist bot the answer hes just going to destroy the country
I think racism IS real, and we have to acknowledge the fact that is not just limited to people of a certain color. Anyone can be racist. I for one am annoyed by racists and people who stereotype so I try not to be like those kinds of people.
because some black people are becoming racist to white people. and we(white people) are still the only ones who can do wrong.
im not saying that ALL white or black people are racist. it just seems like the white people get blamed for all the racism that goes on in the world.
not all white people that is racism in itself. as for being annoyed only if it is not true, ie a black student failing a class may say its racism, instead of not studying or working then yea its annoying, but say the red neck who said he could not have a black prez well no he is annoying
Because the other races( MOSTLY black) some of the white race know use racism as an excuse to get something they want.
Maybe you didn't get the job because you suck!
Most of those people have not experienced much racism themselves or not have not witnessed or noticed a minority being discriminated against. So they are largely ignorant to its existence and so don't believe it is real. Some who say that it is only used as an excuse are one of the most ignorant people out there. Yes, some people do use it as an excuse but it does not mean that it is not real and not experienced by minorities anywhere in North America. Why do they think that you never see a successful Native American in Hollywood? Or that Asians (including the Middle East) are not seen or are rarely seen playing prominent roles on television or movies without being a stereotype (Harold and Kumar is probably the only movie that people have not seen this)?
Experience is the best teacher and many people will go on not knowing until they have been in the shoes of people who face racism much of their lives. Maybe Tyra (we all know how she loves discussing race and racism) should do an episode where a person claiming that there is no racism gets done up by a makeup artist to look like a person of African or Asian descent or wears a hijab. Let them see how differently some people will treat them. I'm sure it'll open their eyes.
thats because all you do is use racism as an excuse
when kobe went to court for the raping thing one of the first things he did was say "its cause im black"
and im not lieing
and im not white either but i know
so its not only white peopel who are tired of this
Racists do exist I was 14 and called a N word by a 10 year old white girl. I did nothing and my momseen more like the kkk who killed her puppy and many other things I don't want to talk about. But it does exists big time!
In my state last month a 30 something year old Hispanic man was killed by a group of white teens.
Not all whites are bad at all! But I wish they knew it existed : /
Racism is a touchy subject, with the history in America when they hear about racism they probably think about slavery and segregation/jim crow and all that. For the record some black people use the whole "it's cause I'm black" as a excuse, I've seen this a lot. Of course it isn't all black people so we shouldn't all be blamed for the actions of others. Okay, what a hot topic to put on here. But as a white person, more over- a human, I think any racism being brought up in this day is a little antiquated. Not because it doesn't happen, because it does. But because it's a two-way street. White people are descrimanated against by some black people, just as other races are descriminated against by others. It just seems like it only makes the news when their not white, but when a white person is descriminated against, nothing....It's like it doesn't even happen, when it happens just as often. I am a firm believer in all people should be equal in standing in society, but it's just not the case. I don't think any one race has the right to say they are the only ones being descriminated against, or that just because they are a "minority" (I hate that word), that only racism towards them counts. I personally don't think there is a such thing as Minority anymore in the US. Unless you are only basing it on a geographical standpoint. But over all, in the US today, there are just as many ethnic people as white people. So minority is not a correct term.
Well, that's my view, as well as the view of most of my friends (who are not all white- in case it's thought that they are). I think people should drop the whole racism argument, and say "I" instead of "all of us".
But more on the actual question- it's not most, it's some. And having talked to some of those some, I think it is because some black people do use it as an excuse. Slavery happened 200 years ago, but some think they can keep throwing it out there like a reason to be what or who they are, when it is just a cop-out, or to get something they want instead of working hard for it like everyone else. Take responsibilty for thier own actions, quit blaming others for their mistakes, and grow up. That's what I've heard. For the black or other ethnic people who don't use it as an excuse, more power to them. They've taken their lives in their own hands instead of expecting society to keep paying for a mistake we had no part in.
I certainly don't want to offend anyone, and I am not prejudiced against any certain race, nor was I raised to be. But there are plenty of people who are and they are not just white. Racial ignorance is not purely a white thing.
It's because blacks are still in the 1960's setting. Racism ended a long time ago but blacks keep on bringing it up.
Instead of bring up racism, why not try and get a long with white people? Whites are probably the most race-neutral race in the USA. I'm tired of colored people blaming white people for everything.
I remember what one of the members of the "The Fugees" said to a black child in the 'hood: "Don't blame white folks, whites didn't do anything; HELP YOURSELF".
No offense, but sometimes whites are tired of poor arguments like, "i earned my place in society and ive never been poor", as if somehow exceptions make the rule. We're talking about a RACE, not an individual.
I'm not knocking you, and it's great that you're doing your part. But for every person like you, what percentage is setting a BAD example? That's the problem. And no, it's not pragmatic to think you can "get to know" individuals in every situation before judging them. Also, while blacks are often complaining of the "realness" of racism, non-blacks can't help but think of the following (links), they're just forbidden from talking about it, which also adds to the problem.

Here it is... We don't have....White entertainment television, a white college fund, A white only Miss America, etc. If we had that we would be considered racist. What gives the blacks the right to have that? If you want it to be equal then so be it. Drop all of that. I don't hate black people more than I hate white people. I just hate the one's ( black, white, whatever) that take advantage of our government and welfare, wick and what ever else they give for free.
black people accuse a lot of racism. sometimes it is and sometimes its not but they make it seem like everything is racist to them
my thing with racism is that black ppl are very racist. MANY can say whatever they want about a white person but if that particular white person says somin about them it's racist. but them talkin about the white guy isn't? what's up with that? blacks are NOT the only ones who suffer from racism so quit acting like it. THAT'S why whites(and any other groups) sigh.
They don't know how to deal with it. And they feel that we should forget it when you can't forget HISTORY.
Becuase black people tend to think white people owe them something (whatever that may be?) for something our ancestors did to their ancestors hundreds of years ago.
black ppl is racist and i have seen it but they are hot too specialy big tall blck man, hot body and sht
everybody is racist, u for asking and me for answering, giving too much importancy is racist .. ohh myy.. what a freak world !!
b/c more than likely the white ppl who do get annoyed when this topic is brought ARE racist.
I agree with you that racism is very real and does still exist. It does need to be fought against and we do still need good, honest, upright people to stand up for what is right and put all of these racists (both blacks and whites) in their place. It is time that EVERYONE knows how outdate and stupid racism really is. My problem with racism as a topic in general however is that the excuses for the past are still being dug up as an excuse for today.
By that I mean the slavery issue that gets brought up for no reason. It was a very very wrong thing done by the white people of that time frame, and it was a very sickening act. But as wrong as it was for the black people of that time frame, it turned out to be a good thing for the black people of today. Although improvements still need to be made concerning everyones attitude on both the black and white side, black people now have more liberties, freedoms and rights then Africans do and now have the same liberties, freedoms and rights as every american does. I think that those rights should've been given to them a long time ago, or even better, never should've even been taken away but irregardless they do now have them and are much better off. So it annoys me when some folks still use that as an excuse. I also cannot stand being blamed for it when neither me nor my ancestors were around in that time frame. I am not those people, I am just me and have never done or wanted to do any of those horrendous acts.
The other issue I have with it is that I've noticed that the tables have turned. It's not just whites showing racism for blacks anymore, although many still do. Black people are now just as racist against whites these days; if not worse, at least of any white person I've seen. I hear more racist garbage spewed from black people than I ever have heard spewed from white people.
I also hate that many of them think that every white person is a racist because of the color of their skin, regardless of whether they trully are or not. Now I'm not racist, never have been. My dad is and so is his whole side of the family but I've never fallen into that trap. Thank God. I have never said a racist thing to any person, Yet, I've been called a honkey, whitey, cracker, dumb pollack, w*tback, etc.. more times than I can count and have heard it on the tv more times than I've heard n*gger, coloured, cotton picker, etc. I've noticed that it has become a trend with quite a few black people and it disturbs the h*ll out of me.
Then you've got the young ones who've got racism mixed up with just plain unlikeability or the word 'no', saying we're racist, when they've never experienced it, only heard about it. They don't know what real racism is. They think that if they don't get what they want, when they want it, then it is racism regardless of the real reason. The youth of today have become very greedy, very needed and very spoiled little brats. They haven't beent taught the truth. I know because that is how my little niece is being raised and it drives me up the wall. I've also seen it with many kids w/ their parents in the stores (all races).
Last, the word n*gger. So many black people say that it is a racist term and get offended by it and I agree, but then I hear so many black people (normally the younger generation) say it to their peers. I've heard it on rap songs, tv shows, in grocery and retail stores, and out on the streets. The place it is originating from are from older black people who already know the negative meaning and negative intention of the word. That tells me that most black people are not trully serious about how offensive it is, otherwise they would not be teaching it to their children.
This all makes it that much more difficult for me to take the issue of racism against black people serious anymore. Although I think it is real and needs to be stopped, I've come to realize that black people as much as white people are to blame these days.
Well with me its the other way around and i'm black. You would be surprised at how many times white people have reported me because they want to yell out that i'm being racist. I have heard alot of them complain about racism so we aren't the only ones. Lord I wonder is anybody going to report this answer? I've been warned to many times. White people complain about fairness.
