Sort Order for ARTISTS

i have an interesting problem. not sure if its a bug or not, or whether i turned something off.

i am running the new default skin which is project mayhem. i am in my music looking at my list of mp3s. i am viewing by artist and in list view type. there are 4 options on the left of my screen:

view list
sort by: name^
switch view
search

the sort by name part is greyed out for some reason, which means i can't select it or highlight it to change between ascending and decending order. right now the top of my list starts with the letter "z". i want it to go alphabetically, so i want it to start with "a". but with this field greyed out, i can't select it to change it, and i dont know why.

the real weird thing is, when i started moving things over to the xbox a couple weeks ago...it was in "a" to "z" order. somehow it got flipped so its backwards...and i can't change it.

if that's true, thats kinda scary considering i am using the default skin that comes with xbmc, the project mayhem one. let me know what you find out.

try deleting you xbmc savegame and it should in a-z order again.

i can't seem to find this save game file. where is that at? i browsed all the folders of xbmc...

i took a look for that file, and quickly realized that i had no clue which value to set the sort order for artists, so i just did the back + start thing. a little bit of a pain restoring all my settings, but i've now made a backup copy of that settings file in case of future problems.

hold down start+back while loading xbmc. this will clear out your settings back to the defaults.

the alternative is to edit e:\tdata\0face008\settings.xml and change the appropriate item.

senergy did you find anything out? i am on the latest build of xbmc and still having this issue. annoying :(

come on i can't be the only person with this problem. *why in every other sort order can you switch between ascending and descending sort, but for artists its greyed out and i can't switch it?

i have put the latest cvs on the machine as well, didn't fix it.

i *know* i had it in a to z order initially so somehow it got switched and i can't switch it back.

someone please tell me how to fix this! :)

i am pretty sure i was able to change the sort by order last night. will have to double check though. it sounds like your having a skin related issue.
