Some questions about Outpost Configurations-File Export

Hi,

some questions about the Outpost configurations-File export:

When I tried to export a configurations file then it saves additional a file called "Configuration.conf" Whats inside of the normal configurations-file and what in the Configuration.conf ? Do I need both for import the file again?

Is there a way to export the firewall rules alone without the other settings like Host Protection?

And if there is no possibility to export the firewall-rules alone: Can I import this file an another computer with different installed software or would that cause problems?

The configuration file - which you can name anything you like - holds all the user settings. You can not export rules alone.

Once saved, you can return to that configuration file by opening it if you like.

You could export the configuration file to another computer but it would be unwise since it's unlikely to be identical.

Ok, normally that completely configuration file is surely the best choice for most of users having just one PC and because most of users will use the predefined rules but for users who want to import just a firewall ruleset without hips configuration on another computer this feature would be fine :) Ok, its still acceptable effort for the most users using the predefined rulesets :)

But when I need just the first config.file - what does the additional saved file Configuration.conf? And strangely Outpost saves later all the automatic backups in the choosen export-folder.

I'm not aware of a config.file. They are two files *.cfg and *.conf. They both hold user settings and are both needed as hayc59 says. Plugin in setting are in the .conf files the firewall settings in the .cfg file. So you need them both but when you load a configuration it loads both you don't have to worry about it. You just need to save them.

Nope, there's no ability to just copy the rules directly. It's a feature that has been requested by many but not available.
