. How can you transform the trapezoid (move the endpoints) and keep the same area, yet have a different perimeter?
Since the area is 1/2 base x height, when you change the orientation of the triangle the height changes as well as the length of the sides. If you keep the proportion of the base and height the same it will have the same area but the perimeter will be different.

For instance: if you use a right triangle with the base = 3 and the height = 4, the area will be 6 and the height will be the upright leg. If you move the vertex to the center you will have an acute triangle but the height will now be the distance from the base to the apex angle. This distance must still be 4 in order to get an area of 6. The same thing applies with the obtuse triangle. The sides of all 3 will be different lengths.
