It seems to be healing and peeling just fine except for one spot. I got it right between my shoulder blades. The outside (outside and the outline) is fine and doesn't hurt at all. The outline is raised, but not painful. But there is a large spot right on my spine of black ink that just doesn't seem to want to heal. It's rough and sort of peeling like the outline but it stings a little. I think it may be scab that I keep irritating each time I move my shoulders blades. Since it's black and it's the most prominent part of my tat, I'm worried that when the scab heals (even though I'm not picking at any of it) that the color may fade or the scar may damage the tattoo. This is my first tat so I'm a bit worried! :) I have been putting just a pin sized spot of neosporin on it to try to help the scab a bit but as little as I possibly can. But I have seen so many things about tattoo care that I'm just not sure....thoughts?!
Near the bone is always one of the most painful spots. Since it has concentrated color there, it will take longer to heal. If it does fade, the artist will touch it up for free.
yeah, keep using ointment, it should eventually get better. My guess is that he went over one spot too many times and it is a deeper injection of the ink. The Journal of Joe The Peacock. The back seems like the most painful place to get one but I see many on peoples backs. The pain is probably in a spot where the artist went over too many times trying to to a good job and insure the coverage was even. It should heal but in the mean time, call the artist and let him or her know what's up. They will probably recommend an ointment to clear that right up.
the ointment you are using, are you getting it all over the tattoo,, like do you think maybe your missing the area that stings?
go to the artist that did it, have him take a look at it...
the color of the tatt shouldnt make any difference with how it heals..
im sure it will be fine though

If you were lying flat on your stomach, your shoulder blades my have pitched together a bit and "scrunched up" the skin on that area of your back. If that was the case, you may have gotten a little more torn up there than other places.
I have my back done and that area has been a problem for me in the past. Line work followed by shading followed by color. All of the work there has resulted in a more scabby wound and a longer healing time.
Nothing to worry about though. The results are consistent with the rest of the work, just the recovery was a bit more annoying.
Another week or so and you'll be through it.
