I have a 3 month old daughter who hates being on her tummy. She will cry and fuss until she falls asleep. Her doctor told us she needs to be on it more so she can start holding her head up that way (which has no problem doing if sitting up) and push up. But she can't because she cries so much and won't stop long enough to work on what she has to do. Are there any ideas as to what might make her so unhappy and what can I do to make it better fo her? I try toys and noise makers, but that doesn't help. She has her 4 month check up in a couple of weeks and I don't think it's something I need to call the doctor about and waste their time with until I take her in. I know what you mean my son is 3 1/2 months old and does the same thing, he hates to be on his tummy. I put him on his boppy pillow and he will stay on his tummy, only because he is not flat. I have tried everything, if you find something that works please let me know. My email address is tiggerann2000@yahoo.com Good Luck
My suggestion would be to lay down on your tummy and play with her. She doesn't like being on her tummy because she can't see what is going on. Also, look for some good toys that you can put right in front of her. If you get her interested in them she might like tummy time better. my baby did like it before but now she hates it...
I think all suggestions on here are good ones. Also, and you probably know this already, but make sure you give your daughter tummy time when it has been at least an hour since she's eaten.
My little girl hates being on her tummy too, but we try to give her tummy time when she seems happy, and we only do it for no more than five minutes at a time. Hope something here helps.
I would just keep trying she will get use to it. good luck
Most babies this age hate being on their tummy. Tummy time is a real battle when they are 5-6 months old. Try laying her on your chest and playing with her as much as you can. This a great way to get in tummy time and exercise for her neck muscles without her realizing she is on her tummy!
She cries because she can't see what's going on as much. Just wait a bit longer. If she's not happy, don't make her. Wait until she's 4 months, then see how she handles it.
You can do tummy time in small increments. It is recommended that you pick baby up when he/she begins fussing, so that they do not associate tummy time with negative emotions.
