So my BF and i plan on getting married in the next two years...but dont
plan on having kids until I'm like 24 or so. And I dont know what to do
because I want to have a baby now and I feel like if I wait until I'm 24
it'll be too late!!! What am I supposed to do?
Having a baby is a very trying experience and you both need to be ready. Just because you are ready doesnt necessarily mean he is. You need to sit down and talk to him. 24 is a great age to have kids, and its definitely not too late then. I wish I would have had my daughter at 24 instead of 21 but Im just happy to have her. Its better to get married, have your year or two of newlyweds kid free. I didnt get to experience that since my husband and I got married a year ago and our daughter is almost 3. It was rough in the beginning, being together even knowing we wanted to get married, then throwing a kid in the mix. It worked out for the best but not everyones situations do. I suggest waiting it out, you are so young still and there is plenty of time to have kids. Just enjoy your time together. I know how you feel tho, I am dying to jump into kid number 2. Luckily my husband is ready. But you have to see how he feels, maybe he has plans that dont include a child just at the moment, there is nothing wrong with that and after talking with him you may feel different as well. Just weigh in the costs of taking care of a child and the stability it requires. You can ready every baby book in the world but that doesnt mean you are actually ready. If your bf agrees to have a baby thats great, then go for it. Then go straight to the doctor and get a preconception check up so you know everything is in tiptop before you begin your adventure. do you have friends that have kids? or relatives? anytime i started to get baby fever i'd offer to babysit my best friends twin girls or my nephew. by the time mom came back i was ready to give them their kids and get a full nights sleep :)
24 is not too late at all, I am not sure how old you are but if you have LOTS of time. Waiting is a good thing, be married, have some money socked away, and have a good job. There is nothing wrong with giving yourself a few extra years to prepare. You are never going to be 100% prepared for a baby, no one is. But get things in order and then you will feel much better about it. I know it can be hard to wait, but think of the things you can get ready for if you give yourself a few more years.
Trust me; it wont be too late.
If you know for sure that you all are going to get married regardless, then I say go for it. Talk about it 1st because its not easy. Think about the pros and cons.
