Ive never studied anything to do with acting but since i left college i have not yet thought of any career that i would like to turn towards, and acting has always been something that I've admired and now i will be 20 come this June i think its about time i thought of a future for myself. so this is why I'm writing this because i need some help in regards of whom to contact someone who can point me in the write direction and explain what i need to do and get involved with in order for me to start learning. if anybody knows of a company or agency or anyone really who may help me please let me know, Thanks for reading. Rikki.
Before you can join an agency, you will need some sort of training. Local theaters are a good way to start. I started acting in middle school plays and after school I joined a local community theater and was part of several productions. I am also part of a local civic theater to get as much experience as possible. It's taken me 14 years of theater training and I am just recently booking commercials and getting auditions for movie roles. This is not to discourage you (i'm only 24 myself), but it does take time. Most people don't get discovered, but if you have a unique look than that helps, too. Try volunteering with local stage productions, whether it be collecting tickets at the door or helping out backstage, ANything to get your foot in the door. A lot of times local community theater actors are retired working actors, or teachers, agents, etc. who know a little bit about the business. Good luck. Hi, I'm New:: Hi, I'm New.
