My gf was literally in tears and sweating from her period pain. Is this normal? She was throwing up a bit too. What can I do to help?
Give her a hot water bottle, and ibuprofen or paracetamol with some warm tea. The awful pain is because the muscles have gone into a very strong spasm, so you need to break that spasm. One way of doing that is to do pelvic floor exercises if she can bear to try it. It really does work but you have to persevere for a few minutes.
The nausea is probably a reaction to the pain - in my experience it gets better as soon as the pain starts to improve. I hope she feels better soon. It shouldn't be this bad - maybe she should see her doctor about this, because there are strong painkillers specifically for severe period pains.
I don't know about normal but it does happen to some women. It's an awful kind of pain and that's probably why she threw up (pain). The only suggestions I have for you to help is to get her a heating pad, some midol and maybe a pint of ice cream. Sounds lame but they all help. You're a good guy to care so much about her comfort. Good luck and hope this helps a little. Its a bit extreme, but normal. Get het to take some painkillers and lie down, hot water bottle for the cramps if possible. My friend used to get it that bad and couldnt work.
Glad you're being sympathetic! Good bloke.
No, this is extreme.
If she does not react badly to Ibuprofen (Advil), then she should take four of them at one go, then take two more every two hours. This *should* reduce her pain and her flow. For a little extra staying power, she can take an Aleve with the first dose, and then one more every 12 hours.
You could get her a hot water bottle, or a hot buckwheat pillow for her abdomen.
She should eliminate soy products from her diet. soy has tons of phytoestrogens in it that can screw with a woman's (or a man's for that matter) hormones.
Encourage her to see a gynecologist - if she is on the pill, this is definitely not normal. There are extra-strong prescription medications that won't cause drowsiness that can help.
