I'm thinking about getting a peacock backpiece but I haven't decided yet if I want just one feather, or the entire peacock.
Which would you prefer?

And because I know someone will answer with a remark:
I don't care if you don't like my idea, I don't care if you think I shouldn't be asking opinions of strangers, when it's my choice, I am making the choice based on my own thoughts of it, not based on any of these answers anyways, and I know it won't look so hot when I get older. Also, whichever I chose to get, I'm not getting the exact same one in the pictures, so don't call me unoriginal, I only have the pictures so people will get the general idea of what I want for the tattoo.
I just want others' opinions of which one looks better, and why they think so, so if you aren't going to answer with that, then don't waste your time answering.

I say...bird, but I also say add something to it that makes it a little more original to you.
Also, that is a big piece, I would suggest going to the doc to get numbed up like I did for that one, cause after 2 1/2 hrs ...you might be screaming "uncle".
I like the full bird. It's a work of art.
I like the uniqueness of the feather, peacock feathers are very beautiful and striking. But I think I'd like it placed differently. Not so symmetrical, maybe on the side of the spine, just kissing the shoulder and top of the arm, .. or curling slightly at the waist and then up the back.
The whole bird is beautiful, but the delicacy of the feather alone is very appealing.

i like the single feather much better.
the other one is asymmetrical and all the colored ink will look dark and blotchy.

If it is for your whole back, then definitely the bird. It is much more ornate, and will have a greater variety of color and details. As a side note, when I was in Malaysia I picked up this woven/beaded piece of art of a peacock and the bird looks just like that tattoo, even in that same "pose." I had it professionally framed and we always get compliments on how beautiful that piece of art is.

I think the whole bird looks beautiful but I'm not to keen on just the feather...it just looks to plain/skimpy at the bottom, a complete waste of space to me...

But, I do like how the feathers fall on one hip in the "whole bird" tattoo.
it depends. If you think you migh want to get stuff on the back of your shoulders later then Id do the feather, but the whole bird is really fabulous.
i prefer the whole bird, only because it has a lot more detail. the feather is nice too, but i think for it being a back piece, the bird will look better only because it has more colour and fills more space. if you were doing something smaller, i would choose the feather.
add details later when you decide which one to get! :)

I'd say the peacock. The single feather is a bit too simple, as back pieces are generally supposed to be detail oriented and large. If you prefer the single feather, maybe try considering a different place and saving your back for a huge project.
