I know their child would be mixed, but if they get like surveys and registration papers, do they check "Asian" or "multiracial"? It's because Vietnamese and Filipino are both Asian races, so wouldn't they check "Asians?"

Okay. im so thankful that you know filipinos are asian not pacfic islander cause that totally pisses me off. and they are not of spanish decsent people!! only 2-3% of filipinos have spanish blood running through their vains!! stop believing everything on wikipedia haha. so yeah i think you would check off asian. its like saying if a baby is scottish and british mixed, you would still check off WHITE/CACAUSIAN. lol
Off springs of a Vietnamese woman and a Filipino man would be considered Asian.
The definitions and differences between Asian and Pacific Islanders are also clearly defined:
Asian. A person having origins in any of the original peoples of the Far East, Southeast Asia, or the Indian subcontinent including, for example, Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippine Islands, Thailand, and Vietnam. Thus it includes "Asian Indian," "Chinese," "Filipino," "Korean," "Japanese," "Vietnamese," and "Other Asian."
Pacific Islander. A native or inhabitant of any of the Polynesian, Micronesian, or Melanesian islands of Oceania. Some examples of the ethnic groups that would be considered Pacific Islanders are the indigenous peoples of Hawaii, the Marianas, Samoans, Guamanian, Chamoru , Tahitians, Mariana Islander, and Chuukese.
Well, since a lot of Filipinos are considered "Pacific Islander" and not specifically Asian since they are a mix of Asian, Indian, and Spanish... then they'd probably just check the "Asian/Pacific Islander" box, they're lumped into one choice on most surveys.
EDIT: that may be the case but most of the Filipinos I know think of themselves as Pacific Islanders. Sorry if you don't like hearing that but I don't know what to tell you.
