Lycos (NASDAQ:LCOS) CEO Bob Davis tells the media his firm is committed to being independent. But we know that the marketplace ultimately will decide if a company can do so. Interest in Lycos has grown after the recent news that Excite is being acquired by @Home.
Broadcast.com (NASDAQ:BCST) inks a deal with Softbank for Broadcast.com Japan to deliver video-audio to Japanese users as well as businesses. Softbank has been successful with its Internet investing in Yahoo, GeoCities and E*TRADE.
USWeb/CKS (NASDAQ:USWB) reports fourth-quarter revenue of $72.6 million vs. $34.9 4Q97. Full year revenue for the e-marketing and web presence provider is $228.6 million vs. $114.3 million for 1997. Firm reports $5.87 million net income for 4Q98 and $13.4 million for 1998 before charges.
