Deadly Crib Danger:: The medical examiner said he was asphyxiated by a sleep positioner. olds crib bare something they wish theyd known when their twins were born. http://www.kktv.com/consumerreports/headlines/1314107.htmlHOME | I was wondering if anyone has ever used sleep positioners for their twins? I plan on cobedding the twins for a while. I have heard that sometimes that they will sleep better if they are very close to each other and even touching. If they want to be very close together, the positioners won't work because they are elevated and have an edge around them. Thanks for any input.
my best friend has twin girls and she didnt use a sleep positioner with them. they had to be touching to sleep. she has sent a few pictures of what looks like them holding hands. too cute!
Cobedding ...when we did this we found they woke each other up rather a lot so they went back to their own cots, you may find it ok when they are very tiny but as ours got bigger the seemed to think it was fun to wake each other up .. sleep positioners- APO 0-3 months - Preemies: Family Support at WebMD:: (27), Kyle (30), Giovanna and Roman (b/g twins born 10/30/06 at 30w, 3lbs2oz each) Last night, he slept for 3 hours in the positioner in the crib, then http://boards.webmd.com/webx?THDX@985.hx9LaBPzMyX@.895a33dc!thdchild=.895a33dcHOME |
I hope it works for you !
I have twins girls they will be 2 in a couple of months. At first I had them together in a basinet swaddled separately with one blanket tucked around the 2 of them - as they got too big I moved them to a play pen where the slept back to back to allow them to feel eachother breathing, at about 2 months I started sleeping them further and further apart then at about 3 months put them in there separate cribs. I found that this slow transition worked well. I find now that even though they are in separate beds in the same room when I remove one from the room for what ever reason the other instanly wakes and cries...it's very strange. Best of luck!
I use positioners with my twin girls (mainly because they are side sleepers and it keeps them from rolling over when I'm not around) but also keeps them in the same place so I can feed them at the same time. My girls are tummy sleepers and sleep in a bassinet next to my bed. I can have them at opposite sides but they ALWAYS end up cuddling each other. When I move them to their own room I will put them back in the positioners sense I won't be an arms length away.
I heard of a mommy puting her twins back to back with them both in one of those adjustable positioners or even with rolled up blankies against each belly to prevent them from separating or rolling. But I think they might continue to disturb eachothers sleep and then mommy will be very tired. Do whats best for your babies, however they are comfy. I think its a great idea for them to share a bed since they have been doing it for 9months anyways!
How old are they? If they are newborns, you can just swaddle them and they won't go anywhere.
I slept with both my twins even when they were able to roll around and surprisingly when you have both in bed they don't roll around. Mine always snuggled up to eachother naturally. If they have a whole crib to themselves then they roll around. so I never needed sleep positioners when they were in my bed.
