Is there any better line-up than this group for 2012 Olympics? And though the rest of the world is truly catching-up with US basketball, this line-up will be good enough to defend the gold.
Top 6
Howard
Anthony
Le Bron
Kobe
Paul
Wade
Back-ups
Bosh
Deron
Durant
Oden
Beasley
Morrison
*If Oden lives-up to expectation, then he's needed for 2012. Ultimately, Beijing 2008 proved that Team USA was too short! Team USA 2012 will need another true center with an inside game to back-up Howard. (Bosh is more of a forward). In fact, Team USA '08 escaped loosing gold via quickness & atheleticism but got pounded inside BIG TIME by guys like Scola, Gasol brothers, & etc. It would have been nice to have Garnett & Duncan in Beijing but they will be too old in 2012. **The way Kevin Durant played last year (& if he continues to sizzle that way for the next 4 years), then he deserves to be in 2012.
***If Michael Beasley plays the way he does now in the next 4 years, he will surely deserve to be in too.
****Adam Morrison will be needed for outside shooting & please, atleast 1 white player! Race may be a very sensitive issue in the US but all over the world, people are wondering why not a single white player in Team USA '08 when there's atleast 1 or 2 who could've easily been included instead of Boozer or Redd?
****The rest of the other players deserves to be in Team USA 2012 (barring injuries) as proven in Beijing. All 8 players will still be in their prime including Kobe who at 34 four years from now, will indubitably still be great because passion, hunger, & dedication burns in him. (And that's why I freakin hate the Lakers being a Celtic fan because Kobe's a threat for the next 5-6 years.)
Adam Morrison?? lol...
Wade and Morrison definitely won't be on the team, and I doubt that Kobe will either. Morrison just isn't a very good player, he can score when he's being guarded by a non-athletic defender without any length, but so can a lot of other guys. That and he's a completely useless defender that can't rebound either. With the way that Wade plays his body won't be able to hold up playing 10 months a year for another four years. He'll choose his NBA career over his international one, and drop out of the program. Kobe will be at the point in his career where he is losing his physical abilities and will be doing everything that he can to preserve his body for as long as he can. He might be chasing Jordan in the ring count, which will be more important than the medal count at that point.
Besides those 3, everyone else seems likely.
the head of the British Olympic Association just announced that Basketball wont be on the 2012 program, on account that it's rubbish, and will be replaced with a more physically demanding sport: Darts
The Rest of the World isn't catching up because the Rest of the World doesn't give a shite about ruddy basketball! Now, would you like to discuss the men's US Soccer team? ROFL!
I'm sorry, but who really cares. It will be some over paid players from the NBA who have made the all star game like 10 times. With players like that why should we not win. I'm not saying that these guys are good, but if you have to be an NBA star to play for the US that is pretty crappy.
Who cares.
