Published by: smith 2008-12-01

Software.com, Inc. this week introduced WebEdge Mail and Calendar, Web-based tools designed specifically for small to medium sized Internet service providers.

Using these tools, ISPs can provide their customers with customized, branded e-mail and calendaring options that can then be accessed from any Web browser, the company said.

Some of the features supported in WebEdge Mail include multiple folders for storing messages, searching, in-line attachments, signature files, address books, and spell checking. And WebEdge Calendar boasts to-do lists, event notification (sending E-Mail to the user to warn them about up-coming events) and multiple calendar viewing options among its feature set.

Designed specifically for the service provider environment, the product is a multi-threaded Web server engine that will work with any POP3 or IMAP mail server. The end user look and feel is provided via customizable HTML templates, meaning that providers can brand the service to reflect their own corporate image. The user accounts and applications themselves can be managed on-site, or remotely through a Web-based interface.

WebEdge Mail and Calendar is available immediately from the Software.com Web site. Pricing is server/volume based, beginning at $249 for a single server license including 100 mail accounts and 10 calendar accounts.
