disconnect the battery when the engine is running for a second or two,if the motor stops alternator is dead,alternatively the auto electrition will test it free

Whenever you run your car and drive around it is auto charging your battery. If you die out than you know for sure that it is your alternator.

it will not charge the battery properly,also the altionator gauge should show you a low charge.check altionator and battery.
unless your alt light comes on, you can't tell wheather it's your battery, alt or regulator. If your batt is reasonably new, it's probably the alt.
Buy the Metra Tsunami 2-Farad Capacitor and other Car amplifier ::
Checkyour ALTERNATOR, which is for recharging your battery while your car is on. If your alternator dies, the battery will be drained and die.

everything dims, or your battery seems weak
When my alternator went bad a few years ago, I noticed that electrical components such as the radio and lights would fade in and out intermittently. The radio would sometimes just lose all power for a few seconds, and suddenly come back on.
If you suspect a bad alternator, take it to Autozone or Advance Auto Parts, and they will test it for free.
It lets out a terrible moan and says "Hey Buddy ...it'll soon be lights out for YOU!"
Get a Voltmeter and connect it across your battery. Rev your engine and hold it at medium revs. Check that the voltage goes up to over 13.5 volts and is steady. If it is, it';s OK if its wobbly its not and if its screaming at you.............well.........time's a'coming real soon Buddy!
Head lights dim and go out stereo stops working...dash board light go out...motor cuts off....even when you start the motor back up...it will run awhile..and keep shutting off....the alternator pulls all the power from everything...and shuts down.....Most people think it's the battier that is going dead...and will keep recharging it over and over.....and even go out an buy another one....and it still want work....People never think about the alternator
