Many people are saying (including my friend) that Camp Rock and High School Musical are incredibly similar.
I don't agree with that at all. I want to prove good points to her about why they are not similar.
Problem is, I have hardly anything except that one is at Camp, while the other is at High school.
Could someone please give me a good comparison on the movies and their characters and why they are/ are not the same? e.g why Shane is similar to Troy or not.

Camp Rock and HSM are going to be somewhat similar. All though I think Camp Rock is going to be better. I'm so excited!
Well, Troy doesn't have an attitude problem while Shane(played by Joe) has an attitude problem(acting).
Troy of course is a jock. Shane is a member of a band.
Troy finds a shy love interest who doesn't fit in just like Shane does.
They both face problems with the love interests. They both get to sing.
That's mostly it. I can't wait for Camp Rock!!!!!
Hsm and camp rock are similar. First because in both movies their is alot of singing and dancing. Second,They also have the same director/producer Kenny Ortega . so the dance moves from hsm and Camp rock are goin 2 be kind of similar. If u read magazines like Tiger Beat Popstar , Bop etc. .. you will find more info. Both movies have sort of the same plot ,about love involving music.In Hsm the popular basketball player Troy falls in love for a smart quite girl who is not popular. In Camp Rock a popular rockstar Shane Gray, AKA Joe Jonas falls in love with a really quite girl Mitchie aka Demi Lovato. Mitchie from Camp Rock and Gabriella from HSM both have a hidden talent they both can SING!!!!So datz how both movies are similar!

Shane is not similar to Troy. Troy isn't 'Bad' Troy is more of nice person. Shane is all like "UGH! This is SO retarded!"
It's more rockish. And it's not retarded. The singers are GOOD. There are 3 mean girls instead of 1. The girl is the main character. The MAIN MAIN. It involves a band. That's all i have.
EDIT: The girl and boy sing together, but they are with other people. The girl plays the piano. The girl has TWO friends instead of one.
They are nothing alike.

~CR isnt a Disney Channel Original Movie(trust me, it isnt. It actually premieres on June 17th on Movies on demand and also on abc and Abc family a week later.)

not the same camp rock looks a million times better and it will blow hsm out of the water
i think there gonna be kind of alike but they have different like story lines camp rock is gonna be like a Cinderella story i think it might be a little like HSM but like a rock version
HSM: about a teen that moves to a new high school. she meets troy, and they defy the rules of high school. they prove that geeks and jocks can sing, too.
CR: about a teen that makes it in camp because her mom is the cook. she has to work to be able to go. she wants to be popular, but it doesn't work out. she's the best singer but the popular group doesn't like her. when shane finds out how great she is, he's amazed.
bottom line: the characters are simlar, but the plot line isn't
hsm uses songs that would actually fit in with a broadway show. camp rock has music like 'too cool' talking about how someone is too cool to know you. that wouldn't fit in with a broadway show.
