Supply chain specialist Kewill Systems has acquired U.S.-based Aristo Research and Aristo Computers, specialists in integrated e-commerce shipping and receiving
software solutions, for $18 million.

Kewill, which is now a global supplier of supply chain solutions with 750 employees worldwide, plans to merge the newly acquired companies into its Electronic Commerce Division.
It says the move gives it an estimated 70 percent of the world
market for PC-based multi-carrier shipping
compliance software.
"This is an important strategic acquisition which
not only gives Kewill a leading position in the
U.S. shipping compliance software market, but the
leading position in the higher growth U.S. multi-carrier
shipping compliance software market," said Geoffrey Finlay,
CEO of Kewill Systems.

There is a shift from single to multi-carrier systems,
reports Kewill, and the market is estimated to triple
by 2003. Kewill's products support rating, tracking,
labeling and document processing, regardless of the
parcel carrier.
Among the products that come with the acquisition are
the Aristo Parcel Shipping System (APSS), Aristo
Receiving Management System (ARMS), and a range of
Internet tools that enable access to shipping functions such as delivery tracking services.
