Electronic Data
Systems (EDS) plans to setup an online distance learning environment at a
Hong Kong school.
The project will utilize a camera placed deep in the canopy of the Peruvian
rain forest to help students at the Hong Kong International School (HKIS), a
private school for Hong Kong's expatriate community, learn more about it.
"Our vision for next year is to help more schools throughout Asia host the
JASON Project and benefit from the experience," said Jay Davis, director of
marketing and business development at EDS Hong Kong.

The interactive learning program in science and technology, called the JASON Project, was established by
scientist Robert Ballard after he discovered the wreckage of the Titanic in
1989.
Ballard set up the project and a foundation to manage it by getting support
from various public, private and non-profit organizations.
EDS has served as a founding sponsor and technology provider of the project
since its inception 10 years ago.
The global information systems company will place the Web camera in the rain
forest to broadcast live images that will be placed on the Internet for
students to examine.
EDS will provide the technical solutions which permit students to interact with
scientist working in the forest via e-mail and organize a live online interview
with scientists.
