Seattle-based Boeing has placed an order with Cincinnati-based SDRC for Accelis software and services. This comes after the two companies completed a successful pilot program.
Boeing Commercial Airplane Group will use Accelis, SDRC's e-Business Integration solution, to allow users working in the Define and Control Airplane Configuration/Manufacturing Resource Management (DCAC/MRM) system to automatically and transparently update legacy databases along with the DCAC/MRM database itself.

Boeing is using Accelis to ease engineering data management by automatically updating the product bill of material across multiple databases.
According to Boeing's DCAC Competence Center Director Ron Trout, Accelis enables Boeing users to work with one interface -- the web -- and thereby greatly simplify data management. "Based on the results of the pilot, we expect use of Accelis to reduce the time required to perform tedious data management tasks and thereby free engineers to spend more time on design creation."
